1. This ( a weather tower from Ahvenanmaa/Åland from Finland ) 56k alert

Just think how fun it would be to snipe some soldiers up there and making them fall hitting some girders as they drop

2. A Big-Old-Fashioned-Wooden Rollercoaster ( inspired by RollerCoaster Tycoon :P )

Actually I was already making one for HL1 but it had so many support planks that the compile process would have taken at least 30 minutes. I rejected the whole idea :(

Other cool ideas?

Well you could cheat, although it might not look "great" and instead of making all those supports, just use a texture. In fact, that is quite a cool tower...Maybe i'l make it :D Hurrah, something to finaly make in hammer :)

The rollercoaster sounds cool...there is nothing quite like going on one of them, knowing that at any moment the thing will shake apart (Ok, maybe not, but the rattling of the wood makes it sounds dodgy :P)

As for something else...Uh...How about the top of a mountain or something. I dunno, it would be interesting to have a little oasis thing on top of one of those big towering red rocks you get in the American desert...you know what I mean. They are like big pillars just sticking out of the ground, seemingly for no reason.

Like those in Grand Canyon? :O

It's maybe a bit too hard for me :p

Erm. 30 minutes? I mean, unless you have a super-computer, most maps should take around 30 minutes or a lot more to compile.

I think what you are worrying about is r_speeds. You should take Farrows suggestions. :)

No, no, nononononooo!

My maps are not usually big. I prefer to the gameplay rather than k3wl über details :D . Or they may be big but kinda simple in detail. I want fast <2 minutes compile time. :naughty:

A rollercoaster would be awesome! with planks that could break etc. So yo u could shoot the whole thing to pieces. That would own!

Cool, But i'd immagine a rollercoster in HL2 kinda like the one at linnanmäki? if you've ever been there. It's pretty cool and big so it should be ok.

"Onkos teillä sinappia? nou whiannes, noo painappel, turun sinappia| Aaa turun sinapia, miksi sinä ei heti sanoa?| Mikä kesti niin kauan?| Kielimuuri..."

BTW, 4000 posts of teh spam copyrighted to MY name!

Sure I've been there :D
I'm going to include that tunnel in my coaster :)

Other thing too (this one was invented by my sadistic sister):

Player could be able to go to the shooting game but no water pistols, no red targets... A Machine gun and a coaster filled with people :D

Player must shoot as many passengers as he can as the train zooms past him :D

something you'd possibly need for a rollercoaster is centrafugal force, (ok anyone who's dont physics knows its the opposite of centrapetal force and it dont exist blah blah).....

like if you go round a loop you'd need to be pushed out to stay there.

Also, joints in wood in hl2; Can they sorta pivot on a joint? like a nail sorta thing? or is it either, how its meant to be upright, or broken and on the floor?

Wooden coasters don't make loops BTW :p

It would propably be too hard to make a fully destructible coaster, but why do we always need to break everything? :P

About the joints... umm.. Why do we need pivots? Aren't them those this in the door?
