ShackNews is reporting that they have two new BINK videos ready to download. Both BINKs were originally shown at this year's E3 convention, as was the one we reported on last Friday.[br]
[br]
The first is called Tenements and it weighs in at a reasonable 99.9 MB whereas the second, called Ravenholm, weighs in at a hefty 205.7 MB, but it does contain extended footage of the scene we saw at E3.[br]Both files can be downloaded from FileShack.[br]

Half-Life 2 Tenements (99 MB)[br]
Half-Life 2 Ravenholm (205.7MB)[br]UPDATE: Our forum member, Gorgon, has taken some screenshots of the movies in action. Aditionally, FileRush are hosting torrents of the videos which should help you if you would like to avoid the massive queues at some websites.[br][br]Half-Life 2 Tenements (99 MB) TORRENT[br]Half-Life 2 Ravenholm (205.7MB) TORRENT[br]The torrent files require you to download a BitTorrent client to receive the videos.

Are these the apartment and graveyard (with Gregori) binks? If so, I'll download them first thing when I get home. These were two of my faves from E3 2k4. :)

Probably some crappy movies we`re allready seen in bad quality ?

File Shack approximate dl start, 220 mintues!?!?
Line usage 22%!?.... dont get it

They're BINK videos which means they're recorded directly out of the engine at 1024x768 resolution with max settings minus AA and AF.

sublidieminal: The links listed at the top of the download page are for subscribers only so unless you've paid any money to FileShack then you just ignore those.

The ones on the bottom are free downloads but you will have a 220minute wait before you can start downloading as there is a big queue on the server.

So these are both just footage we have already seen?!

Yeah... but they are HIGH QUALITY! But hey... valve has to make up for delaying the pre-load AGAIN!

Filerush is fast, free and they have a good range of files avaliable. Normally the best of the best make it on the site, so I look there often to see if they have anything good. They usually do.

AWESOME, 3 hours after leaving the cabin and come back there's new binks!

(I'm using torrent...I am not waiting 200 mins)

Actualy there is new footage on the Ravenholm one:D, about a minute and a halvf of more fun on it ;)

I need a direct download

I need a direct download, its taking to long to down load the binks movies from bittorrent and fileplanet and filerush. I was wondering if anybody knew of another way of getting these two binks moves.
Thanks :borg:

Just a thought, with everyone downloading the binks, they would have made a good test to see how Steam could handle everyone downloading them.

And yes, although i hate to winge because it really doesn't get ppl anywhere i'm dissapointed that HL2 isn't preloading like Valve said it would be, it's Tuesday here (Australia) and i would have thought that it would be monday where ever Valve is situated

The two bittorent links under the screenshots also have and HTTP download option [which i'm using].

I'm currently getting 120+ kb/s on the Tenament bittorrent. Remember, the more people that use it, the faster it'll be.

SHUTUP YOU INTERNET POLICE PIG!!

Damnit, none of them works for me ;(

It goes black, changes resolution/refresh rate, but then jumps back to desktop with the same video mode, but I can still hear sound and there's a black square in the top left corner. And when I click Escape, it quits and everything goes back to normal

I've watched some other HL2 Binks a long time ago, why won't it work now?

Matt... I think you are the last person on this planet to know about it.

They aren't at 1024x768. Since they're widescreen it's probably something closer to 1024x600 or something along those lines.

Man that guy/girl in the binks is a true sex change addict. First a guy, then a girl, then a guy again. Sheesh make up your mind!

Actually, the binks are 1024x768, since it's letterboxed, the black parts are part of the bink, but the video part of the bink is widescreen. But the bink files themselfs are 1024x768.

Apparently what Valve do is make an in game demo file of some gameplay. They then run this with certain settings and activate the startmovie command. This then dumps .tga files for each frame into a folder.

The game will be running at 1024x768, widescreen, and also with the command r_anamorphic 1 to make things look in proportion.

I didnt see the last part of the ravenholm video at the e3 presentation. Nice.
