Hey, having noticed that there are airsofters on the forums, I thought I would start a thread to see how many UK airsofters haunt these servers, and where you play, with what equipment.

Rules (Arghhh, no, not rules on teh intarweb...)
Please only post once
Post where you play and what you play with.
UK only please. Don't take this the wrong way, I have nothing against forieners, but I want to see how many UK players there are.

Ok, thats it. I play at firefight Reading (Went today actually) and I have an M4A1, P90 and a G3 SG/1 which is sulking and does not work.

i WISH i was a uk airsofter, but to my knowledge, theres nowhere to go near where i live, and ive got no money to buy stuff anyway ;(. ive been trying to get into the sport for ages now.

iron maiden - dance of death

been on there before and there isnt anywhere ;(.

led zeppelin - babe im gonna leave you

there isn't one in london, but i'd make the trip outside london if only i had someone to go with :( no-one i know even has a passing interest in airsoft.

Well i don't really play, but once i have some spare cash i plan on starting with my cousin who is also interested.

most people i know don't even know of the sport though.

CrazyHarij - Bah, CrazyHarij...es ;)

Dedalus - http://www.firefight.co.uk have a site in London, run by the crew that run my local site, top blokes, check em out

Farrowlesparrow - Get used to it, you will have to explain airsoft to every person you meet for the next 10 years, no one knows about it. Funny watching people getting into it just from explanations of what it is though

NJD2003 - Thats cool, quick Q thou. I know you get a lot of snow there in winter, how do airsoft weapons do in that sort of climate. Obviously GBBs just roll their ammo out the end of the barrel, but what about AEGs?

when are they gonna bring out a fully automatic MP7 airsoft gas gun replica :(,

anyone, I want one :)

and by god id buy one, even if it went on a shelf for the rest of its life

:),, lol , are H&K MP7 replica's even available to the public in any other form than the real deal?

(oops sorry, the real thing is actually powered by gas,, lol my bad.. I meant a weaker powered gas gun legal for public purchase)

As far as I know there are no replicas of the MP7 yet.

Do you think it always snows up here in Canada? I only play in summer and when its winter I play inside. I've never played in the snow before, I should try it out.

Since I'm playing in italy (partially illegal here ) I didn't have the opportunity of 'snow' yet, but I hope I'll be playing in Austria or Switzerland some time :D

I had a cool Desert Eagle once, Pretty powerful little thing (could shatter CDs) but after a while it jammed, and when I opened it to un-jam it... well, i was showered in gun-bits... and couldn't be bothered to figure out how it went back together.

Usually Airsoftguns are very reliable; at least as long it's not springer-crap from Korea or something similar ;)

Was it gas powered?

Nah it was a cheap springer, but it got the pikeys scared anyway. Made cats scream too.

That's the last time i'm buying a gun off eBay :P

you havnt been hardcore until youve done airsoft topless, at 3 am in the morning, in the park ;)

what can I say,,

wheres he gone?

and Ouch :x

in the park

Till some SWAT-team arrives? No, thanks... :)

Some kids around here have done this before... it's always a big story then... 'blabla, we need to tighten the laws, blabla!' You guys from the UK know this, right? ;)

urgh,,, yeh sure ;) of course we do... :naughty:

anyway this park is 'big' , and you can never get caught, well... atleast not by humans at that time in the morning.

Gun laws are pretty strict in the UK, aren't they?

Well, civilians aren't allowed to own guns, so yeah. They've cracked down on airsoft laws as well; we're not allowed to use airsoft weapons that exceed a 328 FPS firing limit.

if you get caught in public with a BB or gas gun, yes.. or shooting people or animals, or even shooting outside of the confines of your premisis with an airsoft, then you can get fined, and have the weapon confiscated, or worse depending.

Very strict - pull any gun-lookin object out in public and you have a SWAT team surrounding you in minutes with guns that are slightly more powerful than airsoft.

On airsoft here... well... the guns are not allowed to shoot fully automatic :dozey: and they have to be 'marked' with a little sign; elsewise they're considered as real firearms, which leads to illegal possesing, e.g. no cheap import from Hongkong, only the shops here are allowed to import and stamp, this sucks...

We still can have real firearms for sport purposes, but're just allowed to fire on designated shooting ranges.

I airsoft in US California. I've got a G-Spec at 400 FPS with a tasco 3-9x56mm scope on it. And I'm working on a ghillie suit. :)

This isn't a new law mate, its just that we realised that anything over 328 with a .2 counts as an air gun.

I've seen some custom kits to turn a Tokyo Marui MP5K into a MP7

Mmmmh, can' really believe that :O can you tell me where you saw that?

Wait... how's that supposed to work :dozey: the MP7 has an all over different interior, just look at where there magazines are put in. Are you talking about the MP5-PDW? The MP7 is also called PDW sometimes.

I uh... didn't say it was a new law. They changed it from 377 to 328 in December of 2003.

When you said "They've cracked down on airsoft laws as well" I took that to mean they had changed the law. As I said, the law has not changed, but our interpretation of it has, so you are quite right.

I usually play in shorts running shoes and a tank top/spaghetti-strap top/wife-beater, whatever you call it.
and Im the runner... I love making people Surrender.
unfortunately due to me surrendering people, I have been sprayed about 3 times during the last 2 days, from about 2 feet away. :)

Airsoft guns fire 6mm plastic pellets, not regular BBs. They are (generally) 1:1 scale replicas of real firearms that use either "gas" (sort of like compressed air), a spring cocking mechanism, or electricity to drive a piston to propel a BB at muzzle velocities ranging anywhere from 30 FPS (feet per second) to 500 FPS. I am actually saddened that so many kids are getting into the sport. The chance of a lawsuit being brought against manufacturers and retailers increases dramatically when kids get into it (I'm not saying all kids aren't responsible, but a lot of them aren't.) They look realistic enough that one of them is probably going to end up getting themselves shot by police officers (which is bad for the kid, the parents, the police officers, and anyone interested in airsoft) and that will put airsoft in a lot of danger :(

I wouldnt suggest using 6mm paintballs in an airsoft gun.. unless its a $30 springer.
theres a chance they can jam in the barrel or load incorrectly, thus ruining your $200 Gas pistol or $400 Electric Rifle.

Im 22, I play with 8 other guys around my age..
I found out about airsoft from Snowball.. he showed of his Glock19, and I thought it looked fantastic, so much so that I was curious what airsoft was, and how it was played.
I then found out about Airsoft Extreme, by looking into local retailers, went down with my best friend and we both took a chance on buying a couple of $120 glock 19's (brilliant guns, I highly recommend them)
we just kept meeting people who were interested and telling them about the games, showing them our guns... etc it is a blast.

Airsoft isnt your average bb/pellet gun, as Frosty said, you play using replicas that are 1:1 ratio with their real-steel conterparts... they carry the same amount of rounds in each mag, fire at around the same RPMs, etc etc.

its not like Paintball, kids are getting into it (unfortunately as Frosty said), you find that most players (if you go to airsoft events etc) are around 20-40 years old, most have real-life military experience or work as Police or Swat etc.
the games are very realistic, they are called "wargaming" or "Milsim" (military simulation) its not your average buncha teens with paintball guns running around screaming at the top of their lungs.

I highly recommend the games to anyone with steady cash flow (its expensive to get guns, BDUs, Slings and tactical vests, mask and helmet, etc etc)
if you just intend on plinking around in the backyard with some friends all you need is a couple pistols, but for real Airsofting you need to attend an event, and they require that you have all your equipment.

the game is played on honor, if you have no honor.. or play to "have the highest frags" dont bother with Airsoft, you will get booted and banned from events so fast your head will spin.

hope that clears it up

we have airguns here but I think the replicas are illegal (I could be wrong ...not sure)

I've played paintball a number of times it's a lot of fun ..the outdoor enviroments are fun. Indoor is too painful ...I hate getting shot in the back from close range. Havent played in a long time but it's a lot of fun ...tiring too
