Uk DVD version rated 18+ by PEGI ?

Have you played it? Think about it. From the E3 videos the game looks really violent, maybe even on the same level as doom3.

M for mature aduience only... which means you must be 17 to buy it I believe or have an adult's consent. Though generally no store cares about it.

The UK rating works the same as the cinema, but until you get to 18+ games it is just a guidance. 12+ 15+ 18+, i should think Half-life2 will be 18+ due to all the blood and stuff.

I'm guessing there's quite a few mature themes running through the game story-wise, as well as all the gratuitous violence.

Bollocks, the shops might not sell it me. I'll have to use my deep deep deep voice and wear a fake beard.

Actually if that is the case, I'll just get one of my older associates to get it for me.

Sorted

Actually I think it has the potential of becoming a nightmarish hell :p

I mean... The atmosphere is just amazing, I mean... ... An apartmenthouse full of zombies making sounds? A headcrab jumps at you... You run into a dark corridor, a light flips on and off going from side to side. It's storming outside (Not saying it will be under the three days you're there)... Then suddenly... A mutated zombie jumps on you from the roof...

That's not doom 3 scary, that's hl2 scary.

Thats the closest equivalent to the US rating. I say its fair.. and as Esquire mentioned, it should not really stop any of you younger folks

Remember, the rating system isn't to stop you from playing games,. its to stop over zealous parents from objecting to explicit content. :) If anything, the rating systems allow for more graphic games.

Not if you live in Australia it doesn't. They ban everything here.. I'm sure they'll make Valve replace the crowbar with a featherduster and make the blood look like fairy floss before they let us play it...

that's why Steam is so good...

You can slice headcrab zombies in half with circular saw blades. That alone is enough to justify the M/18+ ratings.

Zombies screaming for mercy when they're lit on fire, beheadings, stabbings, etc. Tell me, does that not warrant an 18+?

Think of the headcrabs :'(.

Doom3 does look far worse, interms of violence, then Halflife2 could ever dream of being, and Soldier Of Fortune, Duke Nukem 3d, etc. I would of thought that Halflife2 would of gotten away with a 15 certificate only.

An 18 game implies body parts flying off, people getting ripped apart, sex with sexy ladies.

You only have to watch the videos to slap an 18+ on the box. Ravenholm for one, the zombies getting sliced in half and firing razor blades to chop peoples heads off. The blood alone probably would have gave it an 18+. The realistic deaths alone probably also would have gave it an 18+. Just that bit when the combine gets launched off the crane.

BBFC is a UK thing so the UK will probably have a BBFC mark on. I think the BBFC only do it for 18 games, i dunno why though so it will probably have one unless the BBFC have stoped doing that for games and just stayed with other ratings.

is it just me or is PEGI just the stupidest acronym ever.

way to go brussels.

WOW.... a thread about news that is weeks old and lacking any real substance! YAY!
