Luke Angel was reprimanded by police on both sides of the Atlantic after firing off a drunken message to the White House calling the president a "p****".

The FBI intercepted the message and contacted police in the UK who went to see the 17-year-old at his home in Silsoe, Bedfordshire.

Luke, a college student, is now on a list of people who are banned from visiting the States.

Also I love it how they don't want to say what particular things warrant banning. Which means they can make up whatever stupid reasons they want on the fly to ban foreigners.
 
I doubt calling him a pussy was what got him banned. He sent a full letter, which I'm guessing said more than "You're a pussy bro."

The lady suggested that it was because of one of the sixty+ reasons a person might be barred from the US, which can be found here. I'm not going to read them all to figure out which ones it would be, but you can.

Did you read what Krynn said? "Full of abusive and threatening language" is a lot more than "you're a pussy" so Krynn was right. Calling someone a pussy is not threatening. There was probably something else said that was actually a threat, which would make more sense to be banned.

you implied that that was the only reason. a quick look at the article would have clarified that for you. it's in the opening sentence:

"A British teenager has been banned from America for life for sending Barack Obama an abusive email. "
 
I agree with Krynn, I doubt it was anything to do with Obama being called a pussy but probably over the threats made in that letter. Even if you are in the US and send the white house a threat chances are you'll be talking to the secret service.

Weren't there already a few fairly public situations with people threatening Obama and facing criminal charges or being detained in the US? I thought I heard something about that a while back. Threatening the President of the US is like the worst possible thing to try and accomplish in the world of threats. You'll piss of over half the country no matter who it is and then you'll get your ass kicked by a bunch of CIA guys who supercede most of the laws you think protect you from such ass kickings.
 
I doubt the kid actually threatened him. (too lazy to read anything) But they probably just wanted to know who they were dealing with. ... Phone call to the UK, police are on it.
 
I think it's silly that they banned him for life... or at all...

We all do stupid things when we're kids. Eventually he will look back on this and shake his head, but banning a 17 year old seems silly, unless he's tied to a terrorist group, or preaches anti-american garbage all the time... Which i guess might have been the case.
 
I sent a not so nice e-mail to the White House and they didn't ban me, I feel insulted.

Why would they contact him or contact his local police, etc? Makes no sense. They just wouldnt let him in if he tried to enter if he was banned.

As far as people being banned from a country- the UK has a bad track record about that. I mean they even banned Michael Savage from enterring :rolleyes: Even if you wholeheartedly disagree with his politics, banning him from a country is very extreme and a slap in the face to free speech.

But this isn't! It honestly didn't seem implausible. Also, while I don't agree with Michael Savage's ban, and we have a terrible record of bizarre arbitrary undemocratic government actions, he's an influential radio demagogue who could quite possibly be prosecuted in the UK, which is rather different from some kid, or even a respected academic.
