I only get 19 FPS when everything is calm, then if I look in a room with a ton of moveable parts etc.. I get 9 FPS.... I am using a Nivida GForce FX 5700Le 256mb card, any advice?

Oh and, when I lower settings it seems worse.

Now, I understand your all steamed up and wanting to answer my question but there seems to have been a problem, It looks as if ALL the replys at the same time have overloaded the HL2.net server and nothing was saved. so if you guys could do me the favor and just kinda slow down the responces so that a few could get through that would be great.

Thanks again.

Wow thanks for all the Help/advice ... I will remember all the support I recieved next time you guys need help.

wow it seems your patient, you waited 20 min, then posted again, then again, someones going to help you when you triple post and make it seem like forum is some kind of chat thing.

anyways, what is your comp specs? make sure v sinc is off, make sure af is not so high, make sure you got aa off, that takes lots of fps.

also be sure to not have any other programs running if you can. plus it seems to me that valve hates nvidia.

well, For your first step please post your entire system specs.

1.Proc sexor
2.Motherboard
3.windows version
4. memory type and size
5. gfx driver version
6. Sound card (Actualy Important).

:For Example:

:My System:

1. Nforce 3 Neo Plat.
2. Amd 64 - 3000.
3. Geforce 4 4400 ti
4. Giel pc-3200 single channel 2x512 Cas 2.5-4-4-6.
5. Audigy 2 zs
6. Enermax 33amp 12v Power supply.

I get 45+ frames all the time and most the time I run around 60-75 fps.

And As to answer your Q: Its more then likely your crap for a video card. FX cards were made to profit Nvidia from people who dont know jack about hardeware or tweaks.

I suggest buying a 40$ geforce card if the rest of your system is pretty speedy or if not, just crank out the cash for one of those new fangled cards that you will prolly get ripped off from buying as well.
5.

BUT! As for now heres what you can do to help yourself.

1. Go to your start bar and RUN. Type "MsConfig" And hit Enter.
2. Go to the Startup tab and disable all those programs that load at startup. You dont need any of em at all. Then restart your comp and hope it dont blow up :-).
3. Now that you got your memory all freed up, you will need RivaTuner (A handy Video card editor tool). Wich you can find by searching google or something.
4. After you figure out how to install it and get it running, Use it to turn your frame buffer down to 2. Also make sure no anti alliasing is on or antisotrphic, these can really kill frame rates and they dont exactly do anything for you (I wish they would die for making this stuff).

Safe the settings and reboot. Try the game now and if it still sucks shell out some cash for a new video card. And dont buy a FX for god sakes.
