Actually there was indeed no formal declaration of war, and thousands were killed. I'm not sure if that many died in one night, but that's irrelevant.

Over 6000 Iraqi civilians died during the invasion phase, which you could find out for yourself in five seconds with Google. The body count for the shock & awe bombing of Baghdad on two nights I haven't been able to find quickly, but as I understand it, about as many people died as did on September 11th.

How can you say that killing soldiers is not wrong. If you were at war and someone wiped out your son/daughter, You'd just stand there and except it. Puns aside, urban warfare is always exceptionally bloody, particularly when prosecuted by/against unconventional forces. Civilians will always die in an urban war. However, it would seem these incidents, if true, go far beyond acceptable behaviour for soldiers even in these difficult circumstances and if true those responsible should be subject to the full force of military justice.

Being a Western outsider observing the situation, my perceptions conclude that, as Stern said, Israel isn't being held accountable enough. If the press story of the kid walking down the street in front of the Israeli armed forces is true (I have no reason to believe the otherwise), then I find their handling of the invasion grotesque.

Based on what I read I'm pretty sure that would be our buddy officer combine. He did mention the bible and when he was told the bible is bullshit he seemed to dismiss it by saying everyone has a right to their own religion.
