I was trying to set up a folder in my new computer for downloads but when I tried to save something to it it says access is denied.

I figured okay I'll just delete the folder if I couldnt save anything to it so I click on delete and it says that access is denied again....

I tried to delete it from safe mode, checked the settings on the folder and still it wont let me delete the folder.

I know that there has to be a way of getting rid of it but I just cant figure it out, any help would be appreciated.

rename the folder & then delete it. also try this in safemode

I have tried to rename it and I am able to but it still wont delete it out, this folder is starting to get annoying...

Okay, thanks for looking that up for me, i'll give that a try and post back here with the results.

Well it says that the folder does not have any locking handles but when I tell it to delete it, it cant and says it will on the next system restart.

So I reboot and the folder is still sitting there....hmmm

Well after trying a few other programs and none of them working I should just do a complete system restore (its a new computer so not much has been done on it yet)

If that dosnt get rid of it (it is on the second hard drive in the laptop, not the main one) I will throw it out of my window and shoot it a few times...just to make me feel better.

Make sure your account is the system administrator account. Go into safe mode and run the command prompt. Try to delete it from there.

Certainly you have tried this already?

click START, click Run..., type temp in the run box, press Enter then delete everything in the temp folder.

Now you can delete the buggy folder.

Well, after messing with a few different settings and whatnot I was able to delete the folder.

Thanks for all of the suggestions and everything

this could be a hard drive problem.....like a bad sector or sumthin.
as a last resort, if you can, boot into linux or dos and try and delete it.

Actually justs to let you guys know it was a folder to put my music that I have purchased into... if you know what I mean.

It wasnt a virus or anything like that, just an empty folder that I made and wasnt able to delete or access for some reason.

Had to go through a few different hoops to be able to delete it though
