This is a big problem for me, and I'm getting tired of it. I have switched WiFi routers, internet browsers, but nothing seems to work. This only happens on my computer- the other computers in my house upload fine.

OS: Windows Vista 64-Bit
Browser: Google Chrome, latest version.
Network Speed: DSL/310 KB/s Downstream, 50+ KB/s Upstream

YouTube:
Here is what happens. For example, I go to the on-site Youtube uploader, select a video file (doesn't matter what size or format), and I hit Begin Upload. The uploader sits there for a second, then the progress bar instantly jumps to 100%, and says "Finishing Upload/Upload Complete". I don't think the file is uploading at all. Whenever I go onto another computer and upload the same file, it works normally.

Imageshack/File Upload Sites:
This doesn't happen on 2shared.com or 4shared.com, only on sites like Imageshack and Mediafire, etc.

On Imageshack, I can still upload images successfully, but if the image is larger than 2MB (The site's limit is 3MB), it will never finish. I also have the same problem with the progress bar on ANY file- it will always jump to 100%.

With any other file upload site, the file never uploads, and the progress bar jumps to 100%.

Any help would be appreciated, and if you need anymore PC/Network information let me know.

Thanks.

Also, pictures:

Instantly jumps to 100%

I'm assuming you uploaded those other pictures on a different computer? Does uploading attachments to HL2.net work?

Do you have any download accelerators enabled. You sure you got no virues? And anti-virus running in the background?

No, I uploaded them on this one- small image files still work to imageshack on this computer.

Never tried uploading an attachment to HL2.net.
No download accelerators.
I'm sure I don't have a virus.
Yes, I have a Antivirus running in the background, It's ESET NOD32.

First thing I would do is try a different browser. That should only take a few minutes to install and test uploading.

I remember once I had a problem where uploading a file (like to imageshack) would never finish, and it would crash my router/or modem (not sure which).

I was using XP where I suppose I had changed one or some of XP's internet settings or options and I could no longer upload files.

I managed to fix it by playing with the options, but the best way to fix it would be to put them at their defaults, then reboot.

I've tried IE and Firefox already with no luck. I get the same problem...it seems unsolvable.

how long were you waiting for the upload to work?? i know when i upload stuff, its best to upload it, walk away or do something else for 10 minutes and then come back. uploading takes far longer than your maximum speed to upload. so expect to upload at like 20kbps or less even if you can do 50kbps

Disable your anti-virus and see what happens. Also try turning off any firewalls that might be running.

The poroblem he is having the upload seems to be instant (but nothing is uploading).

Alright, I did that. It seems to be that Windows Firewall is causing the problem. Should I just turn it off, or is there something else I need to do with it?

EDIT: Actually, I got it working for a second, but now it seems that even if I have Antivirus and WinFirewall off, still doesn't work.

EDIT2: It works when I turn HTTP Checking off on my Antivirus, which completely disables the whole Web Antivirus part of the program, which is pretty bad in terms of getting viruses....but I'll try to get the program to make an exception for those 2 sites, or just turn it off when I upload a video.

Or you can get a better anti-virus program:

http://free-av.com

Im not sure what the program is scanning on those ports, but I've had great luck with Avira.

I'm using NOD32, I paid for it, so I probably won't be switching...but thanks anyway. I guess when I upload videos I'll disable it, unless I can find a workaround. Let me search the internet about this problem for a bit.

EDIT: ****ing Jackpot. http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/youtube/thread?tid=294a0ea9d3f539fa&hl=en

EDIT2: After reading a bit, I realized...there is no workaround. I have to disable it to upload. :(

The problem with anti-virus programs is that eventhough you paid for it that doesn't mean it's better at protecting you, a lot of times it's actually a lot worse.

I dont know if thats the case with your program but you might want to look around the internet for reviews and might find it might be worth making the switch anyway.

From v3 and on they added some advanced settings and heuristics for web and HTTP scanning. I am running v4 where a few of the advanced settings are not enabled by default. It can be toned down.

What version do you have?

Under setup, web access protection and active mode (active mode may be under "web browser" depending on your version) and make sure the browser is in passive mode for higher compatibility. You can also go to web access protection and click the setup button (ThreatSense engine parameter setup) and see if advanced heuristics is unchecked (with v4 it is checked by default). Also under the setup button you can set file size limits for what files it scans or time limits so it stops if for some reason your system becomes unresponsive because of this app or any other.

And under setup and Real-time file system protection if you click the setup button make sure advanced heuristics is unchecked (with v4 it is unchecked by default).

I am running the default v4 settings and have no issues with uploading or web performance.

Running Version 4.0.314.0

Alright, I unchecked Advanced Heuristics, still not helping. :(

For testing, just do something like disable one aspect of NOD32 and do an upload on imageshack.
So maybe pick Web Protection first and disable. Try the upload. If it does the same thing then enable Web Protection and try disabling real-time protection etc. If you find one of those makes a difference then go into the settings of that section and enable it again but look at thinks you could change. Obviously remember how you had them in the first place so you can go back.

After testing the real-time scanner of course is the one you want to really leave on as it is what protects you against files on your PC.

I'm on 64bit Win7 btw. My version is 4.0.474.0, not sure if there are minor differences for what version someone would have based on the OS.
