Uncovered: The Whole Truth About The Iraq War

a documentary from 2003 interviewing various intelligence experts around the build up to war

what makes this documentary so compelling is the fact that it's from the intelligence community: CIA analysts, CIA operatives, Weapons Inspectors, NSA ..from Scott Ritter, to Robert Baer to Ray McGovern ..these are people who were there, who were involved in the build up to war

yea operation iraqi freedom is not a good war.

I would, but a friend of mind is bowering my connection to download stuff. This sounds interesting.

You can bet I'll watch it in a few.

you might find the last 10 minutes to be personally compelling

it's an hour long, you'll know what to say after you're done

I'll watch it tomorrow morning. Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert come first.

EDIT: Just remembered they don't come on for a week...

it was planned ..evidence was manipulated and falsified ..watch the video

Well, the blame for 9/11 had to fall on someone to save Bush's ass, and who would make a better scapegoat than dictator extraordinaire, Saddam "Gulf War" Hussein?

Looking forward to this video, though internet here sucks, ah well.

/me goes to watch the video

Scary. I really wanted to fight the Chinese or at the very least, zombies.

But now it looks like I'll be head to head against Americans.

We enslave you zombies in our hollywood prison camps.

Will be watching in a moment.

EDIT: I'm convinced.

:(

What to do now?

forgive me if I'm just a bit skeptical :)

think globally but act locally ..your voice is your strongest weapon ..go to peace rallies (pick one that supports ending the war in iraq but still supports the troops), talk to friends/family ..most importantly: vote and encourage others to do the same ...not just for the federal election but also locally: there's bound to be local politicians that blindly support bush

this doesnt end after the next election, however the more people that are aware of how the government manipulated facts the less likely they'll be able to do it again

heh the alternative is too horrible to contemplate

Did you ever play Arcanum? In the main quest, you have to look for a book about the Dark Elves, a supposedly extinct race. Everyone who had the book was murdered and the copy destroyed. The printing company burned down to the ground the first day after the book was printed, and only 300 books survived. Owners disappeared mysteriously, never to return again.

That's what would happen if that book was published.

non-fiction? horror? auto-biographical? ..he'd keep us guessing that's for sure

Yeah, if it wasn't so conspiracy-type and also if there wern't another hundred 'truths' about the Iraq War, I'd believe this. But still, it is somewhat plausible.

conspiracy type? it's not from some random nutjob on the internets it's direct accounts from people in the intelligence community ...watch it numbers, this isnt "loose change"

That bit with Joe Wilson is just shocking, It's almost unbelieveable that there are people in the administration that are willing to do things like that to him and his wife.

Well, I was talking about the style of talking by some people.

"I think that the real reason for the war.... is that.... America must assert its power on the whole world... as the sole superpower"

Thats on the same level as DPRK propaganda broadcasts.

"Chemical weapons will not devastate you"

Lol.

"We're [America] supposed to be the example for the world."

..... wtf?

But still, I find it somewhat plausible, but don't believe it. The title contributed a lot to my disbelief.

Whats not to believe , they didn't find what they said they knew Iraq had. Also former CIA and goverment officials are blowing the whistle on the fact that at the time it seemed very likely that the bush administration were purposefully trying to mislead the public to gain support for the war.

admittedly that's a horrible title (it wasnt mine, it's the name of the documentary) ...however it's just a name ..the statements by people in the know are all that's important here

Raziaar: sorry for doubting you, it's just that after taking so much criticism (pretty much since the war started) I'm a little gun shy when it comes to people agreeing with me

It's not that I was agreeing with you as much as I was agreeing with the documentary.

Just reaffirms my stance, the stance on this subject that I've had since day one. So just posting to say great find, and thanks for sharing stern. Everyone should watch this film, everyone.

For those who found that video interesting, here are three others I recommend:

Frontline: The Dark Side
Tells the role of Dick Cheney in the Iraq War.
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/darkside/view/

The World According to Bush
(This is a French Flim, but there are subtitles in English)
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7972265312224141763

and lastly..

Why We Fight
(A disturbing look into the Military Industrial Complex)

So basically, it's the same facts that people should have known for ages, regurgitated by people who have positions that should make the Average American Joe sit up and take notice ?

Sorry, it won't happen ... :|

This video is wasted on the net it should be broadcast into every single home that has a television.
If it was the rantings and ravings of some loony, it would be easy to dismiss, this is not the case, thanks for sharing stern.

I'd like to see a similar film uncovering more of what was going on in the British government at the time. If anything it would be more damning for the British government who stuck doggedly to WMD's as the motivation for war, even to the point where Blair said Saddam Hussein could get a reprieve in the eyes of the British government if he were to give up his WMD's. Well that's an easy condition to set if you know it's impossible to fulfil! And yet Blair claims he never knew the intelligence was flawed :| WHILE AT THE SAME TIME justifying the Iraq war with the rationale 'well, we got rid of Saddam' <---a justification which, previous to the war, the British govt had gone to pains to say was NOT the basis for the war!

At least the US stated the idea of 'regime change', even if they had to lie and propagandise to get support for it. 'Regime change' would have died on its arse as justification in the UK, which is why we stuck to the idea of WMD's - as such, the British government doesn't have a leg to stand on. It's a shame Robin Cook isn't in that vid (or alive any more :(), he had the eloquence to give Blair what for.

Not 6 minutes into the video and he said "Nuke-u-ler" weapons twice! Sheesh.
