Under the Radar - Stuck in the house

In the chapter Under the Radar, Alyx and me are in the house where the Combine and Hunters ambush us. This is the part where we're in the car and force fields suddenly appear around us. According to the walkthroughs, a group of Hunters and soldiers are supposed to enter the house for the final battle before we can escape. This is not being triggered. I fight the surrounding soldiers and the Hunters can be heard walking about outside, but they don't enter! I tried reloading the auto-saves with no luck.

Try reloading from a point prior to the ambush.

Bah! My last save was the previous chapter...*sigh* I guess I have some work to do...

Can't you go outside and kill them there? I always run outside asap anyway, because it's much easier to evade their flechettes there... Interesting, I haven't experienced a sequence not working in any of the Half-life games, and the ones that didn't seem to work appeared to be something like a soldier still waiting to be killed or something like that...

No, the area outside the inn is small, surrounded by force fields. Once the attack tapers off, Alyx comments that the voice is talking about them. Then, the soldiers go away and the Hunters can be heard running around outside. They are on the side where the windows are boarded up. The final attack never comes. Its the only sequence that has not worked.

I reloaded the chapter and played through again with same results.

EDIT: After the third play through of the ambush, the sequence finally started. Combine soldiers stormed the house and the so did the Hunters, which didn't happen before. Weird.
