Underground search for 'God Particle'

It wouldn't be possible.

In order to make a black hole big enough to suck up everyone off the planet would probally require the energy of a sun.

I'm going to assume that the phrase suck off doesn't have the same meaning in America.

You know...I'm not even going to ask.

Ya know, it actually does...

It is possible, but the "black hole" would be so tiny, nothing destructive would happen. Also, we do not know what would happen if we entered a black hole. Death, life, eternity in a black hole? We will never know...

Yea we will know...just not in this century.

For a second I thought you were talking about Doom 3 =P

Heh, just read about this place in Angels and Demons :p
They have made antimatter, and found safe ways to store it, they're particle accelerator can make a particle go almost the speed of light before they collide

Bah, you beat me to it.

Somebody had better alert the Vatican....their shit is about to be tossed. Call up Robert Langdon as well, he's gotta hunt down the illuminati. Antimatter is old news though...SEE.

Wait a second though. I don't understand what you mean by the Vatican's stuff is going to be tossed.

You think all this stuff will somehow nullify religious beliefs?

Raziaar you have to see the whole situation.

Yes it would...In the bible it says Earth was created in seven days. The science coming out now could prove that wrong.

I was referring to the amazing book, Angels & Demons actually. You should check it out. I don't read anything really...but that one had me hooked.

EDIT: Tr0n is right though. This could prove the Big Bang Theory to be that much more feasable as opposed to the Genesis version of how the world was made.

But how? The bible doesn't leave out the fact that man can create and do many terrible and mysterious things.

Creating what they're talking about creating wouldn't prove the big bang theory, it would only prove the fact that something of the sort that has been theorized could actually happen.

I dunno, i'll just watch and observe what comes out of all that, but it certainly won't crush my views about religion <chuckles>

Well I'm not saying the 7 day thing is wrong...it requires faith.

In my mind we will find out which is right soon.

Well, that's just cheating.

Very interesting.

I don't know much about black holes, nobody does really. But isn't the whole point of a black hole the fact it has a huge mass compressed into a tiny space, so wouldn't it infact be next to impossible to create an artificial black hole anyway? Unless we happen to find a spare star somewhere and do it with that, and even then its only above a certain mass, eg: our star would simply become a dwarf or something and couldn't possibly become a black hole.

So yeah if thats true, I ain't worried, just like I wasn't five minutes ago :p

ONLY blue super giants can creat black holes.

Blue Super Giants are very rare and the biggest stars we know of. 100-1000 times our sun. They can implode and form a black hole or die out and become very small Neutron stars.

I love the irony.

Irony indeed.

Seriously though, I gotta get my hands on some antimatter. Annihilation sounds like it'd look really cool :p

Oh...annihilation is when antimatter comes in contact with matter... flash of light and some destruction depending on the amount of antimatter.

EDIT: I demand more traffic at HL2net for the specific purpose of my entertainment at work on the occasional Friday night...

Oh, and the bible could, in a way be proven partially wrong by the world ending in another way than prophethised. If these black holes destroy the world, then well, you can say 'I told you so', but then if it did... you'd have bigger things to worry about, or not, if you believe you just rot in the ground :E

Well CERn can do whatever the hell they want. We're all indebted to them, they made the internet.
Also this artical has been posted before.

Wait. I thought Al Gore made the internet? :p

Wrong. The color of a star has nothing to do with it being able to form a black hole. It is only based on how large the star is.
