And it's coming to the PC, PlayStation 3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360 in the second half of 2007.

The old name was fine, why change it ? ;(
 
meaning after Jan 2008 ...big giant MEH on my part ..the game will look average by the time it's released ...seriously how long does it take to make a mp game? U3 engine is done, dont see why this takes so long
 
Still won't be as good as the original. Really loosing the fun UT factor in the series.
 
We're almost out of Jan 2007 now, that means we've got 11 months ish of 2007 left. UT2007 would be out-dated after that.

UT 3 would be a better name.

I do agree that it's taking a little bit longer than I expected to be made.

But, hopefully it's for best.(balancing, bug squashing, etc.)
 
why are all of you saying it will be outdated??? it will still be good fun for a long time. i still rather like the unreal 2007 better though.

I think they're judging it graphic-wise.
Though, I think it looks gorgeous for a multiplayer game.
 
UT is just a showcase for the engine. The fact that there are already games out using the UT3 engine makes it all that more laughable.
 
Goddammit. If they'd simply focus on the PC version they could easily have had this out by now. Unreal's another series that has sadly strayed from it's roots and will probably be no better for it.

This really makes me like Crytek a whole lot better. They're focusing on PCs first, just like they WERE doing with UT2k7. Then they had to go all cross-platform and the game takes forever to come out.

Meh, All UT has become is a "Lets make it pretty so people with buy it, and the fanboys will love it." game...I liked UT alot, but when the next one came out being the EXACT same thing...yeah..I gave up on it.
 
UT has been a long fall downward. Each consecutive release is less and less fun to play.
 
Thats pretty lame, man.

But the enforcer is back! Wooo! That, if nothing else will mean I have some love for this game.
 
Ut2004 was very fun. UT2007 should be great stuff as well. Great old deathmatch.

Welcome to the world of next-gen where the workflow for doing things has been the same for like 10 years and things take 2 or 3 times as long as they used to because people keep wanting more and more :cheese:
 
Release Quake 2 on that engine and I'll return to multiplayer FPS
 
well thats kind of odd... unreal tournament, unreal tournament 2003, unreal tournament 2004, unreal tournament 3 :|

doesn't really work. maybe they've renamed it to deviate and dissassociate the franchise with the 'sports' thing and have it seeming like a sequel to unreal tournament....somehow

Exactly. We can wait, and get a (hopefully) high-quality game such as UT2K7 (OR UT3, whatever it is now), or we can wait months and get a mod, like BF2142.

Unreal Ed. probably takes a longer time to develop than anything else, UT3 is more than just a death-match game it's a set huge set of amateur development tools, hopefully they will do something similar to MSUC again too, I'd love to see another Red Orchestra style TC (mod with that much polish)

Don't see what you are all being pissy about - they said it is coming out in the second half of 2007 in about June. And as far as I can see, nothing has changed.

Yeah, I kinda figure UT sequels are more like sports games than normal sequels. The years thing backs this up. You'll get fancier graphics, maybe tweaked controls, a couple new game modes and a more fleshed out campaign, but basically it'll be the same game year after year.

Edit - Come to think of it, how is it number 3? There's already been 3 games.

Edit2 - Right, the engine. Still doesn't make much sense though...
 
I think it's because on the console they got up to Unreal Championship 2, and Unreal got up to Unreal 2...

Reguardless sticking it on consoles is just meh. Twitch gaming does not translate to controllers as well as a mouse.
 
Hopefully the PC version won't be consolized to shit...
 
They ported UT and Quake3 to consoles. I know they're doing a simultaneous release now, but I'm confident that Epic know their fanbase.

you forgot unreal 2:the awakening,which was one of the worst unreal games ive ever played.
 
eh? i'm talking purely about unreal tournament and how they've named the series. nowt to do with the others

It was a SP game...it can't be compared to the other ones which are MP focused!

But from the new trailer UT3 sounds like it will have a better SP campaign than other UT's
 
I could never get into the Unreal games.

The only fun part about UT2K4 is the Invasion game mode :D
