Valve have released a small update over Steam recently, involving some changes to Steam itself, CS: Source and the Source engine. Here's the changelog:

Counter-Strike: Source
 • Fixed hang bug when shooting grates
 • Re-released changes from Thursday's update

Source Engine
 • Fixed an intermittent crash ("failed to open models\gman_high.vvd") in Half-Life 2

Steam
 • Added an indicator in settings UI displaying current authentication status for multiplayer games
 • Fixed a game crash which occurred when trying to write to special filenames reserved by Windows

To receive the update, restart your Steam client.

As with 99% of steam changes, none of them affected me in the past anyway... but its better than nothing.

Where the frick is the Lost Coast?

agreed. Lost Coast... Want....! and dod source!!!! :naughty:

Optimize de_inferno! Most people (as far as I know) get crappy performance there, what results in admins setting other maps, when they see inferno is next.

LOL. We get new updates and usually there's more moaning and bitching around, than happiness ^^

I love De_inferno, runs great.... has mass character, and detail.

now De_port, that's another story :/

Im still foolishly holding on to the idea that we might see a DECENT voice codec soon... does this bother no one else?
where's Voice_Speex valve dudes?

Yeah I love Inferno too. In the house near T spawn, I get around 170 fps (though a bit jumpy). That's okay with me ;) Not very good compared to 250+ on office in some spots though. All according to cl_showfps 1.

what the???
The VAC statuts display has been in the option UI for ages now????

When I saw there were comments for this news item, I knew 100% for a fact there would be someone complaining for Lost Coast.

For some reason de_inferno runs great and i got a crap pc.

Valve seem to get some sick pleasures from knowing there are a lot of people waiting for them to release stuff. It happened with HL1, it happened with HL2, but no, that wasn't enough... they had to keep us waiting for other things... so they showed us the Lost Coast, and Day of Defeat Source, just so they could keep us drooling and waiting this much longer.

God dammit valve, Don't announce the stuff unless you're already planning on releasing it in the near future. Learn your lessons for crying out loud.

Eh? It's one of the things that have made em so great :p Hype is their friend.

It's not a sick kind of pleasure. Valve don't release anything until it's been polished up to their usual high level of shine.

Their idea of "near" and yours are different. They've been working on these things for months if not years. A extra few weeks of delays to make sure things are as close to perfect as possible isn't too bad.

If Valve are so well known for doing this all the time, why do fan boys continuously get angsty and pissed off when they do it again? Valve are a massively successful game developer for a reason. Crying fan boys are crying fan boys for the same reason; Valve take their time to do things as well as they can.

If you can't handle the delays, stop reading fan sites.

Inferno also runs just aswell as every other map for me, and I have a mid-range PC. Now where I would say it gets really choppy is when you look at the shelves/boxes at CT spawn on Compound.

Nice to see a game being updated, but they really should fix the hitboxes for both HL2DM and CSS. (Isn't actaully being able to shoot at people a core concept of a FPS?)

Lost coast along with HDR Lighting will be delivered on Steam within the summer - announced by a Valve representitive at E3 - SOOOoooOoooo stop asking every single update, since it isn't just a "map" .... but much more ...

Yeah I agree. HDR is going to be one big download I believe. Not only that, but the map is going to probably be pretty big to. Summer starts June 15 or something like that, so It probably wont come out to July. When ever they release it, I see very slow download times, LOL.

Indeed, i saw an interview at E3 which states that it will be around 1 gig or something , and the map yes , will be a huge for it has long distance viewing and HDR lighting also....

I don't know what they changed in this update, but it has seriously affected my fps, i used to get between 50-70, now i'm lucky to get 20-30. And this is in all maps. Been chatting to ppl on the servers and they have noticed the same since the update. Seriously, how hard is it too just leave the parts that work alone, its just gettin annoying, every update a new problem or some way to annoy players. sorry about the bitching, i needed to vent, just pisses me off, when it works fine, then along comes an update and it messes it up for you.

Very very well put. See - post count says nothing about the worthiness of a poster's opinions.
