As it seems im stuck with this game, will the mods/updates and patches be available on cover disks or regular as downloads? ......or will you have to do/install them through steam.........my gaming computer isnt connected to the internet and it was a real ball ache getting the game activated on it......... there should have been a proper warning on the cover.........(trading standards?) :flame: :flame: :flame:

Says "internet required" I don't see how much more difficult that can get...

This is probably the most ironic thing on the net, and you see it on all kinds of forums.

DO YOU PEOPLE REALIZE YOU ARE WHINING ABOUT HAVING TO CONNECT TO THE INTERNET ON THE INTERNET?

You are using the internet to complain about having to use the internet. wtf is wrong with some people.

Actually, looking at the UK packaging it's quite discreet - very small letters in the last section of minimum requirements. No mention of why, either. The guy behind the till mentioned it to me - I already knew but I hope they all told everyone, just in case.

yes but im using a different computer.......not my computer as i said if you could actually read correctly..........yes its says internet connection required on the box...........but it was very small and and could have referred to using the C.S multi player part.........it didnt really stand out as a requirement to get the game running

some great forum this is........... no-one got any answers or wot, or are you all too busy drooling over this pile of dissappointment

I believe we answered you question but you have persisted in being an ass.

Leave now, and don't come back.

hey chrispo, get over it. If you are not happy with it take it back. what does a dial up connection cost these days? 5 bucks?

Thats like complaining "it wont work on my win95? :(:(:("

no! you lot of complete tossers, you seem to miss the point that i dont have my gaming computer on the internet for a reason.........so i dont have to install spyware/firewalls/antivirus software.......i just have a basic easliy managable windows installation that runs like a dream, with nothing running in the background and no F**king viruses.........so to get HL2 running on this machine i had to install all of that crap, put a lan card in and move it to where my other computer is. gone online and get a game that id just spent £40 on to f**king work.........SO MY QUESTION still hasnt been answered..........if i want to install any patches/ updates will i have to piss about again and do that or will i be able too down load them on this computer...burn them to cd......then use them............there shouldnt be that hard for you to understand now should it

:naughty: please some one read the above and give me a real answer

I think the point that is being made here is that you either cannot read, or you figured the very clear and concise mention of Internet Connection required was a joke. Either way... Well, maybe the stupid shouldn't be allowed to own computers.

Probably install them through steam. There, happy, you complete moron? Now go crawl into a hole and die, no one likes you anyway.

Internet connection required is often stated on boxes refering to multiplayer play............for a game that was so dependent on an internet connection to get it working, it could of been abit more obvious............didnt help that the anti theft magnet was covering it.........so i didnt get to see it until id already bought it and got it home............shouldnt really of had to explain myself to such great detail............but there you go...............

You'd have to have Steam running.
Firewalls don't affect it much, and it's a built in function of Windows XP.
You wouldn't want to install spyware anyway.
Antivirus programs don't necessarily have to run in the background all the time.
Are you suffering from Internet phobia?

How ****ing Complicated Is This?

You Bought A Single Player Game Called Half Life 2. It Clearly Says ----internet Connection Required----

What Is Wrong With You?

its got F**KING counter strike on it aswell a multi player game so whats wrong with you

have a look on some other games youve bought and you may be surprised that they also say internet connection required in much the same way as hl2 states........

As you seem to have regular internet access I find it surprising you weren't aware of the game's requirements beforehand. Ah well, everyone jumps the gun occasionally.

If you've got an IQ higher than 5, you can connect to the internet and still have all the pseudo-security you think you have (just because your computer is offline).

Speaking of internet connections, I didn't know that when I bought Everquest, it needed an internet connection. I thought MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER ONLINE ROLE PLAYING GAME was just something they made up :D

No harm done, just read the box more carefully and don't come here to bitch about it.

And about your original question, then no, mods and whatnot won't require internet activation unless they are multiplayer. You can download them with the PC you use for the net, burn it to a disk, and go from there.

Of course I've only heard of one single player mod so far, but hey, it's all gravy.

... Some mods will be on disk... most wont. Updates wont be on disk. Get a connection.

You aren't getting mods unless you download and burn them to disc, then transfer them.
You'll have to download patches.
Any games released by valve will require net activation.
Get a firewall..

Does it say "Internet connection required for Counter Strike"

no, it says "Internet connection REQUIRED", (YOU MUST HAVE IT, ITS NOT AN OPTION)

Do I have to post the definition of required? Are you honestly that stupid?
