Yeah. That's tangible evidence he was about to embark on a HUGE phishing adventure and won't better his deeds.Axyon said:Hahah, this is serious gold. He deserves everything coming to him if he takes the initiative to register a closely-matching domain name.

the principal is being very professional about it - nice^Ben said:Further to your enquiry regarding illegal phishing web pages hosted on our
school web server, we have now completed a lengthy internal investigation.
The account tleung5 belongs to a year 11 boy (age 16). Student access to
that account was disabled as soon as we were notified of the problem on
Friday Nov 4th. Although the web site was left up and running (as
evidence) over the week-end, I can assure you that at the time of
disabling, there were only 3 test entries in the form reply log.
Over the week-end, a great deal of mostly offensive entries were logged.
Possibly there were a few real credentials – these will never have been
seen by the student concerned and will be destroyed by the school shortly
(we have kept the log for the time being in case you wish to have a copy).
Unfortunately, the boy, finding his own account banned, proceeded (with
continued disregard for all school network rules) to use his elder
sister’s account (tleung3) over the week-end to make a second attempt at
phishing. To cover this activity he restored his sister’s site to its
original state so by Monday morning when I looked at it (as a result of
your second enquiry) it did not initially look suspicious.
Tleung5 worked with a second boy who assisted in the construction of the
phishing page and the posting of the URL to a number of official and
unofficial game forum sites.
The school does not have a copy of the data collected by the boys over the
week-end. There is evidence in tleung5’s email box which suggests an
attempt to recover the password of a number of accounts on Nov 6th. These
have not been read by tleung5 as he has no access to the email box – these
emails will also be destroyed shortly.
Further to this, we have discovered that over the week-end the two boys,
naïve of the trail of data being left behind them, also registered the
domain name:
www.steeam-powered.com [NB: double-e]
We know that over the week-end, jointly, the two students published this
false address to at least one forum in Hong Kong. We do not have any way
of knowing whether any credentials where stolen using this domain.
Obviously, the past, present and future use of this domain name is
completely out of the hands of all staff at the school.
In summary, the school has removed the illegal phishing pages hosted on
its server and rescinded the school network accounts of those involved
indefinitely.
Both students have been further severely reprimanded with school
suspensions, with parents/guardians fully informed of the nature and
seriousness of the offence, both from a school and legal viewpoint.
However, the school cannot give any guarantees that the students involved
do not have stolen account details, nor that they will not use other web
servers to perpetrate phishing attacks in the future.
Clearly, you need to decide if further action is warranted and we would
co-operate fully with any further investigation by appropriate
authorities.
