Upgrade your steam account update.

what if the guy took some random stupdents account?

God damnit, you people give this guy far too much ****ing credit than he's worth.

What if he's an alien? What if he rode onto the internet with a flaming dolphin? What if he's a terrorist hacker that utilizes stolen Steam accounts in a plan for world terror?

Everything points to this prick being nothing more than a pathetic script kiddy that only managed to obtain Steam accounts by preying on human gullibility. He's a con artist, not a hacker. The moment you people have some compelling evidence to suggest he's anything more than that, please do inform me.

God damnit, I hate these freaking dumbass out-of-the-blue panic theories.

He's going to be pissed when he finds out he just got owned.

Wha if he is hitler reborn and trying to take over steam accounts so people have no choice to join him since they can't play on steam anymore so they get too bored and MUST join his cause.

I think we need to call the FBI!

Well if he was not the hacker(HIGHLEY UNLIKELY) then it will just blow over for this kid.

Further to your enquiry regarding illegal phishing web pages hosted on our
school web server, we have now completed a lengthy internal investigation.

The account tleung5 belongs to a year 11 boy (age 16). Student access to
that account was disabled as soon as we were notified of the problem on
Friday Nov 4th. Although the web site was left up and running (as
evidence) over the week-end, I can assure you that at the time of
disabling, there were only 3 test entries in the form reply log.
Over the week-end, a great deal of mostly offensive entries were logged.
Possibly there were a few real credentials – these will never have been
seen by the student concerned and will be destroyed by the school shortly
(we have kept the log for the time being in case you wish to have a copy).

Unfortunately, the boy, finding his own account banned, proceeded (with
continued disregard for all school network rules) to use his elder
sister’s account (tleung3) over the week-end to make a second attempt at
phishing. To cover this activity he restored his sister’s site to its
original state so by Monday morning when I looked at it (as a result of
your second enquiry) it did not initially look suspicious.

Tleung5 worked with a second boy who assisted in the construction of the
phishing page and the posting of the URL to a number of official and
unofficial game forum sites.

The school does not have a copy of the data collected by the boys over the
week-end. There is evidence in tleung5’s email box which suggests an
attempt to recover the password of a number of accounts on Nov 6th. These
have not been read by tleung5 as he has no access to the email box – these
emails will also be destroyed shortly.

Further to this, we have discovered that over the week-end the two boys,
naïve of the trail of data being left behind them, also registered the
domain name:
www.steeam-powered.com [NB: double-e]
We know that over the week-end, jointly, the two students published this
false address to at least one forum in Hong Kong. We do not have any way
of knowing whether any credentials where stolen using this domain.
Obviously, the past, present and future use of this domain name is
completely out of the hands of all staff at the school.

In summary, the school has removed the illegal phishing pages hosted on
its server and rescinded the school network accounts of those involved
indefinitely.

Both students have been further severely reprimanded with school
suspensions, with parents/guardians fully informed of the nature and
seriousness of the offence, both from a school and legal viewpoint.

However, the school cannot give any guarantees that the students involved
do not have stolen account details, nor that they will not use other web
servers to perpetrate phishing attacks in the future.

Clearly, you need to decide if further action is warranted and we would
co-operate fully with any further investigation by appropriate
authorities.

He got owned so badly it isn't even funny anymore.

YES IT IS :D:D:D

Hahah, this is serious gold. He deserves everything coming to him if he takes the initiative to register a closely-matching domain name.

Yeah. That's tangible evidence he was about to embark on a HUGE phishing adventure and won't better his deeds.

Anyway, this is going into my Halflife2.net sig archive.

wow...maybe the police do need to be notified.
sounds like he and his buddy had schemed up pretty big plans to steal Steam accounts :|

Ben? what u think?

I'm letting the school deal with it.

Suspensions and marks on the record are damaging enough.

the principal is being very professional about it - nice
keep the pressure on
the proof that he tried a second time even after he was found out means he's a dangerous fool - the police should be notified imho
it looks like this setback will not prevent future incidents otherwise

I told the dumbass he was just making a hole for himself.....

Fantastic response from the school there, they are really competent it seems from that email, they've done a good job, and this little kid is going to get taught a lesson at an early age, pathetic attempt that left a trail going back to himself.

Surely for the sakes of stolen accounts, you should inform VALVe, or instruct the school to contact valve about the attempted and successful phishing of account. The fake steeam-powered.com page, being an attempt to trick people, thats serious stuff. This kid was trying to cream a big profit out of this, he needs to be put in his place.

<clap, clap, clap> I bow to you good sir, excellent work ...wow

This was a big step for hurting the phishers. Hopefully they will slow down now. I know it will probably never stop all together, but we can hope a few find out about this and turn tail. That is why alot of people do crime on the internet, they think they are invisible. Wrong.

I'm still waiting for my ^boneding.

Those bastards are getting owned in the face.

It would appear that my work here is done. I shall now disappear into the darkness... never to be heard from again... Dammit! I said "into the darkness"! Wake up! Hey, I said wake up! Yeah, you. That was the cue to turn the lights out. You ruined it! Son of a bitch! Well, isn't this rather awkward? There goes my dramatic exit. Alright, I'll just use the ****ing door like everyone else. *sigh* So, I guess I'll see you guys tomorrow? Alright... whatever.

brilliant. simply brilliant. hopefully that little malefactor will be taught a valuable lesson. laughed my ass off from this story.
