Uploading Custom Textures

When uploading custom textures i dont know where 2 upload them to on the bsp. eg: would it be materials/de_carpark ?

just materials as a default,,

no but when i downloads custom maps there is folders like mcdonalds etc. Plus the vmt are set to the folders.
