A new law expanding the government's spying powers gives the Bush Administration a six-month window to install possibly permanent back doors in the nation's communication networks. The legislation was passed hurriedly by Congress over the weekend and signed into law Sunday by President Bush.

The bill, known as the Protect America Act, removes the prohibition on warrantless spying on Americans abroad and gives the government wide powers to order communication service providers such as cell phone companies and ISPs to make their networks available to government eavesdroppers.

:hmph:

Land of the free, home of the brave.

I chuckled.

Is this for real? It can't be for real... please someone, show me there's hope left in the world and tell me this is a joke and that site is just full of bollocks.

When people want to control your life your only hope is with them, atleast that's what they'll tell you.

But there is hope, if more people start giving a damn.

"such as cell phone companies and ISPs to make their networks available to government eavesdroppers."

That part of it is good. Would make it easy to eavesdrop on terrorists' websites and cellphones.

Don't think that many terrorists present their plans on the web.

...that's not my biggest problem with your post but I'm afraid my other points would be lost on you. I'm sure Stern will be in shortly, he's better at this.

Translation: I have nothing to say. The right to eavesdrop on suspected terrorists is good. Prove me wrong.

By the way, I like that the first comments on the article are 9/11 conspiracy theories. Also, it doesn't matter whether or not terrorist-sites are actually used to transmit information. They're terroist-sites. Like alemerah.org which is hosted in California.

hey lyk I gt a plan to blew up da pentgon itll be awsum lolz.
