just started steam and a box popped up saying it was validating game files, only took a few seconds, just wondering if anyone else had this?

No it happened to me to. It was for Condition Zero though?

no i believe its to check ur cache as the warez community have found a way to play cs source online wivout purchasing the game. so maybe this has something to do with the validating. I dnt have cz and it checked mine so i think its to combat the piracy thats going on.

it has done this to me twice.
I think it did it after condition zero was done preloading.

and again once I restarted steam after I purchased CS:S (not in that order though heh)

as briggsb2k said, I think its merely anti warez precautions or something.
either that, just making sure the package isnt corrupt for one reason or another.

i had the same thing to btw the BIG BANG this weak i can feel it

CSSource online... Umm... Why is that supposed to stop pirates from playing it online? They (I) just skip steam all together, works just aswell.

It said for me it was validating Half-Life 2 files. Maybe it increased the encryption security?

my guess: checking file-integrity, happens when decrypting/aka first install; when it fails you have to preload again, if not, the crc-control of steam was succesfull. has nothing to do with illegal content or warez-rls of cs:s.

Possibly checking to see if you have invalid files, such as hackers and such?

yea Validating Steam files means that it is just checking for any non-legit files in your Steam folder.. and if if finds any.. ur screwed over hahah

Does it almost everytime I load up Steam, though it takes less than a second so it's not a hassle or anything.

yea.... but some times it doesn't do it, some times it only takes like 5 seconds, and one time it took like 7 minutes! I think they need to be constistant
