Valve Can't/Won't Validate My CD-key. Anyone else having this problem?

Well, to add to this pile of confusion and angry mob of people who can't play their copy of Half-life 2, I have another bug/problem to add. Steam won't validate my brand-spanking new CD key. So far I've gone through two, returning my first copy back to the store, uninstalling, re-installing and entering a new CD key.

Anyone been able to get past this/knows what I'm doing wrong? I've entered the CD key letter for letter every time and steam is still being a cranky b*tch. Any ideas short of gathering an angry mob armed with crowbars to storm Valve/Vivendi?

Yeah this seriously sucks ass... I've waited so damn long to play this game, it takes like two hours just to install the son of a bitch and now oh sorry steam is to busy right now, you can't play...

What a cluster ****, I have spent 60 dollars on this game, I WANT TO PLAY IT !!!!!!!!! Grrrrrrr

Didn't they have ANY idea how many people were going to hit their servers? I mean for the love of God, MMORPGS have had some buggy releases but this just takes the cake.

Seems to me though that pre-loading was the way to go... maybe they're letting the preloaders in first or something? Just about eveyone who's been posting about being able to play the game has pre-loaded (correct me if I'm wrong).

Wish I could've. There weren't any stores open at midnight last night... Not like for Halo 2. I demand equal release partys for PC gamers! >.<

Guess I'm just going to have to keep trying. Wit hmy luck though, once I actually get my CD key validated I'm going to run into another killer bug or something. If I'm lucky, my computer will just explode in my face and kill me or something...

Valve's in some serious deep sh*t m'thinks.

It told me the samething it couldnt validate my HL2CE yet so I could just play HL2 until it did. Well big surprise I cant even play HL2 because it keeps telling me I dont have the damn disk inserted!

YES SOLUTION PUT ONLY THE FIRST 5 SETS OF 5 CODES IN WITH HYFENS DO NOT ADD THE LAST BOTTOM SET OF LETTERS AND NUMBERS.
