Well from my point things are looking quite good. Condition Zero going to retail stores and off to steam on the 23rd. It really does seem things are starting to get big, i highly doubt a hl2 release date would be anytime soon. I would assume new information would be released at E3 and then a real release date this summer or possibly even september 30th, lol that so would not be cool. TF2 on the other hand i have no idea, but i really do PRAY we hear something at E3 and if not we should all be demanding to because they owe us big! I dont know how many TFC fans are here or TF2 fans but TF2 is really going to smoke everything out of the water, i cant wait. Also if you havn't already, be sure to pre-order condition zero instead through steam because you get exclusive HL2 footage on a disc, but who knows if its new...i sure hope it is. Well what do you guys think about valve's work lately?

I am glad the finaly are going to "release" somthing, knock on wood. If it does get released my fears of HL2 being delayed to much longer when be gone :)

CZ is their last HL1 engine based game so, if all goes well (long shot) they'll release hl2 very soon, next month, the month after, any more than that well... wtf are they doing?

it wont be out till after april Minimum.

probably sept 30th but who realy cares becuase itll just keep getting delayed again and again.

Well, the smart thing would be to hold off HL² untill CZ sales have died out... Not that wewre interested in this.

If you read around a bit, CS:CZ has been done for ages. The publisher was just holding off releasing it because ????.

They were making trading cards... (not kidding!!)
Dunno if that was the reason behind the delay, probably not, but it was fun saying it..

I personally think VALVe have Sept 30th. planned for the HL-2 release, They'll be hoping that the success they had with a years delay last time will pay off again.

And remember even when HL-1 was released, the graphics technology it used was relatively out of date, so even if S.T.A.L.K.E.R., DooM 3 etc are release before hand it won't really matter if it's a really good game.

If they actually do that... ****!

(note: CZ = NULL)

I want to smake you, because don't spread info that isn't true, if you understood, VALVe sent CS:CZ to them months ago, and VU took there sweet ass time developing copies for it, don't blame steam for what a company did.

heh, smake me, see if i care.

can you prove that steam wasnt involved in the wait for cz? I doubt it. I could, however, find testimonies of THOUSANDS of steam users that it was in no way entirely ready for the release of cz.

its all speculating anyway, and i gave my speculation . . . so bite me.

Dude, if you can't put 2 and 2 together and realize that Steam is the major roadblock holding back both CS:CZ and HL2 then there's no hope. There is no logical reason to hold back CS:CZ for almost 6 months unless there's a significant financial advantage. Valve wants to release CS:CZ via Steam for 2 reasons: 1) bypass the publisher and keep the profits for themselves and 2) stress test Steam in a real world environment before releasing the BIG ONE. I'll bet the house if Steam mucks this one up it'll set back HL2's release possibly to 2005! If Steam is successful with CS:CZ we could see HL2 by July, maybe even June!

jaguar has a point, this is very good speculation.

first off VU was holding cs:cz, if you ever remember ffs....they wanted to publish it in all there factories and shit....took there damn time on the shit....why you think we got no updates for like 2 weeks straight?? waiting on VU to ****ing get there act together and put out a release date.

I'll bet they annouce hl2 is going gold at E3, and then we'll see it hopefully end of may-early june.

TBH I hope we see that happen :p VU will of course get their act together for that game for sure.

i think when i get HL2 i might learn how to make models and make the alyx strip for me lol Oh yeah OH YEAH BABBY GO ON!!!!!

ok back on topic.. i could really care less for CZ cause its just crappy bots with mabee minor physics upgrade new models / weapons and mabee a new multiplayer... i duno why ppl are just so cryzy over it... its like FF zombies running around going its the best game of all time... /crap... lol Cstrike 2 on HL2 engine? cs_assault? now thats what i wana see... lol i wonder if Havok is useing localized physics to like in UT2K4..

my money is on steam crashing and burning for CZ!

STEAM will do just fine with CS:CZ, not because it's got tonnes of bandwith, but because no one will buy it. It has been delayed that long that people have simply lost interest.

If it had come out 6 months ago I may have bought it, but now I don't play CS so there's not much point.

The reason CS:CZ was delayed is becuase it sucked big ones.

PC Zone reviewed it at like 58% and Valve shat themselves so they delayed the release and reworked it to make it better.

And honetsly Learn about the games industry before you blame Steam.

Vivendi Control Valve, NOT the other way around.

If the game was finished Vivendi would be lighting a fire under gabes ass to get him to release the damn thing.

Face it the reasons CS:CZ and HL2 aint out is becuase they were never finished and only now are they getting close to finishing them.

Thing is though, Vivendi have probably got very, very little leverage over Valve. Valve is self-funded and owned. They could take HL2 to any publisher they like, and that publisher is going to make a killing.

Doubtful, this is were the wonderful thing of contracts come into play. ;)

With Steam, Valve have created a platform which allows them to go into direct competition with their own publisher. DoD Retail was published by Activision. HL2 is almost certain to make buckets of cash, and HL1 continues to sell, and Valve needs no funding from their publisher.

If you look at these facts put together, I'd guess that Valve have a pretty sweet contract.

But I wouldn't doubt they signed with VU to do at least 2 installments of half-life, therefore they have to publish it through them.

lol sept the 30th.

well i suppose one good thingis that there will be loads of mods available by then. some are already starting to make good progress.

I wonder if it is possible for them to get the game duplicated/box art happening as well as a leak, then sell the game at E3, Har har. Think about how they would do it, set up a huge room full of cashiers, one way in, one way out. You would then need guys running around making sure all the cashiers have enough units under the counter. Perhaps you could even make a vending machine specifically built for the purpose that accepts CC's only.
