Valve is pissing me off

Valve maintains a release date of 9/30 and hasn't announced its gone gold even though were a week from the worldwide release date. No one says anything clearly, im starting to get super pissed. According to spitcodfry, we were supposed to hear from Valve about a steam release for 9/30. Im not saying anything bad about Spit, but wtf, Valve is keeping us in the dark and its buggin me. Anyone else?
 
First off, please odnt point usless threads like this that just let us know youre mad, and no, spit never said we would hear anything before sept 30, go back and read what he said.

the last thing we heard from gabe was "we'll see" about the release date of 9-30 and that when they do decide to release it they will send the game cache a week in advance to your HD if you order it via steam
 
i agree that they should inform us at least a bit more. a month from release i can understand... but a week?
 
Yes, it's bugging everyone, that's why the forum is in a total state of chaos and spam, we are all dealing with it in different ways.

mate, they are working toward sept 30th but lets face it. there is no way in hell there is going to be a boxed disc on the shelf in any game shop in the world on sept 30th

Steam... maybe but its not possible for the shops
 
Ok, when its 9/30 and nothing is said, its delayed :) until then, its just rumors, But im getting a strange feeling it wont happen lol ;(
 
Still, I agree that there is no plausible reaosn for this silence: it merely pisses people off. Why can't they just give us a tease of information to satisfy us? Even if it's being delayed, it would be nice to know what they are all doing now or thinking about.
 
he's right, I'm pretty angry right now. Especially since I've done so much for HL2. I totally agree richpull, anyone who doesnt is a total fanboy, cause this is insane. I know it'll be a great game, but that doesnt give them a reason to put us in the dark. This is the worse game release I've ever endured.
 
lol its not the worst game release think of DNF! people have known about that game for years! we have known for sure about halflife 2 since May! the game will be out soon we know that. I personally think they have just hit a few hiccups or "showstoppers" as they call them.

Yeah, its so not like them, they were giving us movies, pics, interviews.. now its just silences. They could be finished and getting it ready for it going gold or they could of hit a a glitch and smack, 2 weeks work to fix.

Or they could have scrapped the whole thing and started again :eek:

This is the same Valve that kept us in the dark about HL2s very existance until the 11th hour, despite people asking them constantly for years, right? It's their modus operandi.
 
gabe is hitler and valve are all nazis... quit whining and do something useful with your lives until it comes out.
 
Yes it would be a matter of one simple public statement. Maybe they are trying to not let us down,but that may just back fire on them and they may get just the opposite.
 
^ and that is the most bannable thing ive ever seen in this forum. mentioning / compairing a game developer to someone who decided to wipe out people of a particular religion because it suited him.

Well said, that's my thought, they don't even have to talk about the game, they just have to communicate with it's fanbase.
If it is delayed, they'll only do more damage by keeping quiet, the sooner they admit that they've slipped, the soonerwe can all settle down and accept it.

As it is I think it's gone past the anticipation stage for nearly everyone and we are now getting fed up with the whole affair.

I'm not talking about Email statements, they are simply not trustworthy, we all know that now at hl2.net, I'm talking about a statement released on VERC (http://collective.valve-erc.com/index.php), the only place I trust for HL2 info.
It doesn't have to be a big statement either, just something to let us know they are alive and can see our frustration and confusion.

Gabe stated specifically that a STEAM RELEASE AND STORE SHELVE RELEASE WILL BE ON THE SAME DAY. It will NOT be on Steam on 9/30, and then released on Store shelves 2 weeks - 1 month later.
 
We're all going insane, but pointless threads like this one won't give us Half-Life 2 any sooner, I'm afraid. :(
 
alco, Valve does need to tell us when the release date is coming out. they owe us that.

No. They don't. They can keep you in the dark.

They make a good game. You pay 50$ to own a copy of it.

They don't owe you anything.. People can come and go as they please.


Waiting for HL2 is like watching TV.. If all of a sudden you don't like what you see, you change the channel. You don't sit there in disgust, call the broadcasting company and complain that, "They're pissing you off, and to hurry up a play something good."
 
I agree, valve is really messing up by putting us in the dark. Unless it is ultimately to make it sweeter when it does come out.

Well if valve makes hl 2 on time for sept 30th, its not a big deal for us to be in the dark. However, if they leave us in the dark and come 29th or 30th and they dont say anything, or announce a delay, that would be the dumbest thing you can possibly do

I also strongly disagree with you here. Without us Valve cannot survive, without valve we can survive. I think valve owes it to us to keep us up to date ESPECIALLY this close to release on such a popular game.

Are you contradicting yourself? This thread is about (sarcasm now) "how valve owe's us their lives if they don't tell us whether it's delayed or not".. But yet you write, "Without Valve we can survive"

Then I say.. Go survive.. You'll live without having to know what they are doing.

Well unless I had paid for something in some way and I don't mean preordering a game that isn't coming out yet at some local game store but paying when a game is available more likely then I don't think they owe us anything. They make the game we buy it or we don't, they don't owe anything to us. Anything said about oweing us is just someone bitter because we haven't heard any news. Just do something else with the time, when it does come out its going to be great just about everyone thinks that so occupy your time otherwise.
