valve manage to screw somthing every time whats the crack with this

That is not HDR. what he's experiencing is probably a direct.x.9c error - i.e. He doesn't have it installed.

i had problems with my nvidia card, cs ran like shit, fixed it by using console to change something (type "mat_dxlevel 70") hope that helps

frankly if i wanted to play cs:s in dx7 i would just revert back to 1.6 sort of defies the point of all the nice shiny graphics doesnt it i just dont whant things as shiny as they are and i can garuntee that dx9 c is installed

1) Update/reinstall your graphics card driver
2) Update/reinstall DirectX
3) If this doesnt fix it, delete the counterstrike source folder (but not the gcf).

wha.. the gun is just missing its texture. all thats showing is the cube map, wouldnt that happen if the engine just simply cant find or read the correct texture, definately a DX/graphic's card problem just apply those settings in the console in that fix someone posted.

If you have a higher end card add the following to console/config:

mat_bumpmap 1

If you have a lower end card add the following to console/config:

mat_specular 0
