Valve on CS2

"You may be surprised at what he has to say". That could mean anything, it could be "Well, we didn't really like the gameplay of CS in the first place, so we've decided not to do a CS2." or "Do you like bunnies? I like bunnies!".

CS2 and Lego Batman? Holy awesome...erm...batman!

For all we know, he might just announce an unveiling date and give some slight hints at what's in store. And that's being optimistic. I really loved Counter-Strike in its beta and early retail years, but I just sort of fell out of it eventually. Hopefully they'll reinvigorate it with the same thought and care that went into Team Fortress 2.

Counter strike online has been announced for a while hasn't it?

Do not expect any big reveal.

Removed ridiculous Raziel hype from title.

Heres what game Newell has to say:

"We're working on CS2!"

Holy shit, both of those just made me tingle. I know it's all just hype, but it worked.

And I doubt they'd actually mention CS2 if they weren't going to do anything about it.

The only reason I don't like & so don't play CS, is the inability to respawn. I just die too damn fast every time I play. Takes the fun away. At least for me. A CS2 does not impress me all that much sadly. There are just too many "Modern Day" shooters. All of which are pretty much the same, just under different names.

CS2, Goldrush, and L4D. We are getting some official videos out of this, so yes, please go crazy! :E

Maybe this time around it will be more like Rainbow 6 (before it became le Suck) and less "BUNNYJUMPRETARDS".

Counter Strike as a tactical shooter? My god that would actually make me play the damn thing.

I'm having difficulty imagining CS2 being all that different from CS.

This is good, very good news.

Hey make sure you update this thread once new info get released. bookmarked this thread!!! :p

I trust Valve has something interesting up their sleve, a la Team Fortress 2.

I have a sinking feeling though that if Valve were to ever make a shitty game, this would be it.

The thing is, they really CAN'T afford to radically alter CS like they did TFC; or at least, I can't see how they'd do it in a way that wouldn't piss off millions of 5-year CS junkies.

After what Valve has done with TF2, I don't doubt they'll succeed in CS2.

Are you referring to 1.6 or source kiddies? And sure you may loose the hard core CS peoples but is that such a bad thing? Making a casual friendly version of CS would be awesome.

What the hell was with the "I am back!" thing? Engrish for the lose I guess.

I doubt they are working on a new version of CS, maybe they meant CS:S...

I think they can. If people don't like CS2, they just go back to CSS or 1.6, and CS2 will appeal to new players too.

Yeah, to be honest - If you're complaining that a new version has been "noobified" because it easier to get headshots, then you are pretty lame. That's what they're complaing about with CS:S. Nothing about how it makes it easier for new players, no, it's about them not wanting other people to have the same edge as themselves.

Well, with Valves Cinematic physics, they can afford to make a map whereby you have to stop terrorists using a nuke ;)

Too bad the real game is using the GoldSRC engine, and looks almost exactly like CZ.

That could of been proof-of-concept, Valve might take it to the next level

Nexon the people that made that video, made CS online, which that video goes with. Nexon bought a license to make a game with CS name...Its being beta tested right now...Not gonna change much.

This may be different, but I heard something about it being developed by Nexon for Asian players...

Its just a different version of CSCZ from what i know. Designed to cater more towards the Korean players.

Its the biggest Esports game in the world. People are getting payed to play it day in day out. Iv been part of that community for over 7 years. I have full faith that if Valve were to make a CS2 it would be pure greatest for both parties. They know how much it means to Esports and they know they need it to attract new people.

I've been trying to play CS but I have a hard time doing so. I'd be interested if it actually had respawn and instead of buying your guns and equipment, it should be custom made kits... imo.

I fully expect that Valve will ship CS2 with EP3 and Portal 2 as their next release, after L4D. I'd imagine CS2 will be a reinvention of the core game play.

He's just referring to the porting of CSS to the Orange Box engine.

Isn't Counter-Strike Online a version of Counter-Strike being developed for the asian market? Kinda like Counter-Strike Neo, but not as gay.

Valve can't do anything CS related without pissing off the CS crowd. Besides, if they didn't make it radically different from CS it would just be CSS1.2 and Valve, other than their Source ports, have never been known for making the same game twice. This isn't EA we're talking about.

Team Fortress 2 could have been Team Fortress Source, but it ended up being nothing like Team Fortress or Team Fortress Classic, thank God. Making Counter Strike 2 as a proper tactical shooter is the way to go, I think.

yeah.

I'm guessing Valve felt threatened over COD4 multiplayer

The game is alright at first, but after playing it so much it gets boring, maybe offer up some new game types or game rules.

And yeah I like the idea of customizing my weapons.

BTW, whatever happened to Alliance: The Silent War, that looked cool with their 1001 weapon types
