This may be different, but I heard something about it being developed by Nexon for Asian players...

I'm having difficulty imagining CS2 being all that different from CS.

The thing is, they really CAN'T afford to radically alter CS like they did TFC; or at least, I can't see how they'd do it in a way that wouldn't piss off millions of 5-year CS junkies.

I think they can. If people don't like CS2, they just go back to CSS or 1.6, and CS2 will appeal to new players too.
Too bad the real game is using the GoldSRC engine, and looks almost exactly like CZ.

Isn't Counter-Strike Online a version of Counter-Strike being developed for the asian market? Kinda like Counter-Strike Neo, but not as gay.Counter strike online has been announced for a while hasn't it?
Valve can't do anything CS related without pissing off the CS crowd. Besides, if they didn't make it radically different from CS it would just be CSS1.2 and Valve, other than their Source ports, have never been known for making the same game twice. This isn't EA we're talking about. The thing is, they really CAN'T afford to radically alter CS like they did TFC; or at least, I can't see how they'd do it in a way that wouldn't piss off millions of 5-year CS junkies.
