The Public Relations recently has been absolutely terrible from Valve. Even in the midst of all this confusion and chaos, they still say nothing. Why can't they just release a simple statement stating what the hells going on? Is this game delayed, is it not, if it is delayed why? I dont understand why they can't seem to be able to do this.

If it is delayed, they obviously knew a good time before now they werent going to make the release. But they didnt say anything about it if that was the case, and instead chose to let us get closer and closer to the 30th.

Release a statement already to calm everyone down, get rid of all this confusion and chaos, and tell us what the hell is going on.

you people cant seem to understand that

The previously announced September 30th release date for Half-Life 2 is being pushed back. We are currently targeting a holiday release, but do not have a specific "in-store" date to share at this time. We will release that information as soon as we have confirmed a new date.

is a official statement...

You could always just wait and see and also not start a new retarted thread where this issue has probably been discussed trillions of times. O and BTW Nice topic name.<---sarcasm

Unfortunately Valve's 'Commercial Communication 101' course doesnt start till next month.

thousands of fansites...

its a confirmed email...

They send an email to major gaming sites.

That's an official statement.

It's offical that the game ISN'T done and that they will be revealing a new release date as soon as they figure out how long it'll take to finish the playtesting.

I just wannna know why??WHY!!! WHY!!! Damnit

Okay, smartasses ;P

How about a traditional official statement done in the TRADITIONAL fashion that we commonly see.

Heat i have a confirmed email from GABE himself that says they did it just to piss you off sorry man it was a cruel joke.

Don't whine ..ADAPT!!

EDIT: Heat isnt that ur sig and then ur post seems to hint a slight amount of whining i dunno maybe its just me.

They ain't confirmed crap, until I see it on their website.

However, it ISN'T an official release date.

that's right - that's the most obvious and official way to make statements.

well their website has no mention of HL2, so i guess that doesnt exist, because its not on their site, right?

liek ive said thousands of times, its idiotic of valve to not have a simple news section on their website. when the game got delayed. they simply log in to their website as admin. change release date to holidays. save changes. and its official as hell without the pain of emailing a bunch of people and still leaving confusion

They could use VERC if they wished.

It's been posted on VERC and Chris Bokitch hasn't deleted it so it's true.

A press release is just a release to the press, it isn't written on special paper and presented on a cushion.

All Valve's press releases have been by e-mail and rather short. In May there was a press release that said "Half-Life 2 will be shown at this years E3".

Understood, but I think we all agree that people would feel more comfortable with these sorts of announcements if they were made on valvesoftware.com. Then people wouldn't scream FAKE for days afterward.

The delay announcement sent to news sites was an official one. Locked.
