As said above, this is a mod team's work which Valve are publishing free of charge. Not a game made by Valve or slowing Valve in any shape or form in terms of development of other titles. I thought that would be obvious.

Porting the mod to Source, adding achievements and polishing it up in general (not to mention making a TF2 hat ) will use up resources. It was probably a side project for ever since Valve hired that mod team.

Was able to play for about an hour, it looks great, runs great and is a helluva lot of fun to play. Only one campaign, but you can't complain too much, there is a lot of re-playability and what not with mixing and matching kit. Plus the whole level up scheme adds that delightful sense of character progression, feels good watching the XP bar fill up after a successful mission.

Seems like it would be fun to make a map for this. Not sure what modding tools come with it. If you have to use hammer that might suck...

Co-Op is a lot of fun but i got disconnected a few times. Looks like there's a lot of weapons etc. to unlock for each class. Don't bother with the singleplayer. The friendly AI is horrible. Mods should make this even more enjoyable. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a Left4Dead mod soon.

I think you'd still need to do a decent bit of editing in Hammer I'm guessing.

edit: Also, dedicated servers can be set up but most people are probably hosting locally.

Can't play on my crappy laptop. Slows down to two frames per second when the massive swarms start showing up. I got the hat trick achievement by dying within five minute twice and spectating for the rest of the two games (shouldn't it be three games?). I want to try this out properly
