Yes, I understand these problems have been answered, but none of the solutions seem to work for me.
A few days ago when my computer crashed while playing a game on Steam, I rebooted my computer and tried to load Steam, but got the error message 'Could not connect to Steam network' or something of that sort. After checking the internet, I found that the best solution would be to uninstall the folders and reinstall them. I copied my steamapps folder out of the Steam folder and began the uninstallation.
This is where it goes wrong.
Since my Add/Remove Programs App no longer works (registry screw-ups, in the process of fixing it), I used jv16 Powertools 'Remove Software' tool and got rid of Steam through that. Afterwards, I deleted the registry files with the cleaner in jv16, and deleted the directory.
After downloading the installer, it tells me that not all of Steam is gone, so I click remove and go through the motions. When it downloads however, not all of the files download, as it does not put any .dll files in the directory. Even after finding and placing those in the folder, I still get Steam Error 201 which is apparently an error caused by unsuccessful installations of Steam.
I'm at a loss right now, and I fear that if I try and fix it anymore, it'll destroy it beyond repair. Any suggestions?
