Versus tempo randomly increasing?

When I say tempo in the game, I don't mean the varying pace of the Survivors/Director's insight to the overall flow of the game. I'm talking about everything occuring much more quickly. Like, for example, when you pull out your primary weapon, it happens in a flash. Your gun fires faster. You move faster. Or when you're picking someone up/healing, it completes far quicker. To be fair, it pretty much ruins the game you're in because L4D is all about pace. Can somebody tell me if this is a bug or an admin simply fooling around?

As far as I know, there is no change in weapon animation or firing speeds between Versus and Campaign mode. You are either experiencing it in your mind, or there are external factors interfering with it.

Well, according to the long list of green bars on the scoreboard, it suggested that there's no lag. This increase in tempo wasn't occuring throughout the campaign, just kept coming on and off between new maps. I'm not stupid aswell man, of course I know there's no difference in game speed between versus and standard co-op. It's not a "figment of my imagination" either :\ It sounds like you're taking the piss out of me xD

I assume that you haven't played the game as much as me to have experienced it yet. Seriously though, somebody will know exactly what I'm talking about when they've experienced it for themselves.

I have noticed on some servers the speed of the game feels faster than usual, I dont quite know why.

Yeah, and then after you start a new chapter, sometimes the speed issue has just gone... it's really weird. Not too much of a problem, since it quite rarely happens, but still a hassle nonetheless.

Out of my insanely high number of hours logged on both Versus and Campaign....I think you're hallucinating, and I suggest you pass around whatever it is you're taking.

I've never experianced this.
I suppose it could be an admin screwing around, but I don't know if there are commands to do some of the things you are talking about.

Maybe an admin messing with Host_Timescale. Probably put it at 1.2 to **** with you. (Should normally be at 1.)

Chill out much? If there's no difference in game speed between the two modes, why are you so adamant that there is? Also, I've played L4D inside and out on all campaigns on all modes and gotten a large majority of the L4D achievements. There is no difference in speeds between the modes. End.

I don't think his point is that the gamemode has anything to do with it, he just happened to be playing versus while experiencing the "time warp".

It's probably a weird lag symptom, serverside setting or space-bending hardware issue.

...You don't live next to a dark astronomical object of immense solar mass, do you?

Thankyou, one person that has offered a decent explanation rather than blatantly twist my words (a hallucination? are some of you just plain dicks or what?). Don't know why some people have reacted in a pathetic manner; I'm not trying to troll or anything, I'm just simply pointing this weird problem out to see if anyone can offer a solution/has shared the experience.

If most people are not experiencing the same shit at you, it's totally ****ing reasonable to say that perhaps you are completely mad.

...or not.

BUT THE INTERNET IS SRS BSNSS SO GET PISSED ALL YOU WANT.

It can't hurt to try and be nice.

No, seriously, all bullshit aside. Be nice to those in need.

Describing it as a 'hallucination' is just a bit of light humour, not the incredible attack upon his ego and personal integrity he appears to be taking it as.

MAYBE I DO SMOKE TOO MUCH DOPE AIGHT?! Joke. This thread's turning into a bit of a laugh, so I'll go with the flow, mofo

It does better if you express it to him as humor. From his point of view it would seem that you are talking down to him. Give it a wink, or a tongue, for god's sake.

:D

A SMILEY! That makes everything better! :>

I don't know how long this guy's going to last if he is getting butthurt over me saying he's hallucinating..

hmmmm. YOUR MOM IS UGLY!

Actually I have experienced exaclty what the OP is taking about at least 3 different times. Everything looks like it's playing a lot faster, think of the game's actual speed, but sped up to about 2x fast forward. Your shots register perfectly, no warps, nothing, just everything sped up like its on crack.

I asked the other people on the server if they were experiencing it, and they confirmed that they were.

I'm not sure what causes it. Ping was good, it only happened once in the round so it wasn't the server, and it went away after the next level loaded. A glitch perhaps? No admins were present, it seemed like a game issue to me.

Then you're playing on servers with the timescale changed....dum.

...shank? ok.

Anyway, I was just joshing with you about everything. Just I've never in my entire time of playing this game have heard anybody say this until now. So a couple people have mentioned it, yet I still haven't seen it. We've already decided what more than likely happened. Instead of jumping on everybody's case because they haven't experienced it, you might have actually seen the humor we were portraying.

Haha nah chill mate, I wasn't as serious as it looked in my posts. Shanks a knife by the way. Nevermind.

Or it's another way of saying thanks if you have a ****ed up tongue!

I just played the finale of Dead Air with this speed thingy. Was pretty damn hard to say the least... much less time to react to the stuff the tank does, for example.

I joined the game mid-finale, but the guys who had played through the campaign said the change "just happened" at one point. Perhaps the admin of the server fooling around, but I guess it could be some sort of a bug, too. I've heard some folks complain about this before.
