Very Good Fan Made Halo Movie

Sort of good, sort of stupid. It had no plot at all, it wasn't even following a specific person around. Then it went for the cheap "sacrifice yourself for the real hero" thing, which is really a weak excuse for adding emotion. Don't know why someone would sit in a doorway and shoot a rocket at 1 furry guy trying to run in. I don't really like Halo because it's generally a very cheap game, so I can't see anything too great coming out of a movie about it except for more crazy action and EPIC SADNESS AND PAIN OF WAR thrown in with MASTER CHIEF IS WISE AND A ROLE MODEL. The action is pretty good though.

*slams head on desk*

It's the 8 minute intro to some sort of fan made movie. I'm not sure how many fan made movies you have seen, but they are usually crap, and usually don't have a plot.

They however, put a lot of work and money into this, and it is very well done for a fan made flick. I feel as though you are judging this as an actual film you expect to soon see in your theaters.
Most people could not pull this off.

Oh sorry, I guess people who aren't in Hollywood aren't allowed to do anything decent. I'll just have to accept all the crap that people make from now on.

By the way, I don't give a flying **** how good the costumes are or how many zanny effects are in it. I'd just like someone to tell me an interesting story, and to do it properly - which they obviously could have done.

Huh? Fan made? Wasn't more or less this exact same thing released a while back as a promo for Halo 3?

Yeah it was made for the promo, and I thought it was pretty ****ing great when it came out, along with the whole diorama thing they had too.

The best fan movie I've seen like... since ever. Hopefully they might do one for half-life.....

No for halflife.
I heard Justice League is coming out
YAY

I feel that if they tried to squeeze a story into that particular production it would have thrown the whole thing to hell. It's simple plot works well with the fantastic action sequences, which is what the creators were going for.

To be clear though: NOT A FAN MADE MOVIE. These were made by Neil Blomkamp (who's other awesome work can be found on the net), and were part advertising campaign, part attempt to prove to the movie studios that he could make a damn good Halo movie. They were made for (relatively) very little money and on very little time, so they're an amazing proof of what he can pull off.

I can't see if it's the whole thing that was posted, since there's several parts to it, because Youtube took it down. They're still available on Xbox Live though.

But wait, is it official? Like is he actually in business with Bungie or whatever?

He was the choice that was supported by Bungie and Peter Jackson, reportedly. He's also one of the points that they refused to budge on, and why the Halo movie has been stopped for now.
