Hi all,

I just bought Half-Life2 and everything works fine.
except for 1 little strange problem wich makes it impossible for me to continue playing this game.

Everything worked fine untill this:

when I first get my crowbar (where the guy drops it from that balcony).
I cross that train station (the trainyard). I move down to that dark hall and then it starts loading (a normal loading process). But when loading is completed, the game simply stops and I go to the main screen.

It gives no error messages or doesn't crash, it simply stops and goes to the main screen. Allthough, the background image from the main screen is also gone :s

When I try to restart the game without exiting hl2 first, I get a "memory read" error.

When I reboot steam, and then try again, I can play again normally. But when I'm at the same point (the darkhall) it crashes again.

anyone has any ideas? please tell me

thanks

Try deleting the local game content and letting steam download it again.

it was 3,5gb :s
I have limited download/upload. And I'm not 100% sure if it will work then. Any other solutions that doesn't require upload or download? :(

WOAH! Don't do that! Verifing the game files does the exact same thing with out having to re-download EVERYTHING! It only re-downloads the stuff it needs. In this case I do recommend that you do verify the files.

i have the exact same problem in the same spot in the game. when i click the link to verify game files it comes up blank.. please help me as well

YOU"RE WELCOME! GLAD TO SEE I HELP PEOPLE!

Sorry about the caps, I'm just glad I helped someone. But what else is new? :P

hmm, ok, this is a new thing to me.. where do you EXACTLY do this Verifying of game files? I don't see anything like that in the properties page of my hl2 or anywhere for that matter. thanks in advance.
