very unusual video driver (not what you'd think)

I've been having video card problems with hl2 - who hasn't??

Anyway, I realized that my driver wasn't actually being updated when I installed it. WHAT THE CRAP??

So, I formatted and started over (I was due for one anyway) and I thought that would help. NOPE!

Getting the latest driver from Nvidia web page doesn't seem to install it - whether I have sp2 installed or not (win xp pro.)

I have a geforce 4 4200 go (laptop.)

Any suggestions? Can I do something to install these drivers myself? The drivers I had came from the dell page, so they were installed correctly somehow.

As usual, though, Dell only has drivers that are over a year old... way to go Dell!! Seriously, any help would be awesome. I'd sorta like to play the game I bought. Can't wait =)

never mind... apparently notebook cards must be supported by the manufacturer. the dell driver is just old...

Guess that screws me then? =-/

same thing with ati mobility cards the drivers wont work with them get omega drivers for the mobolity cards
