Still wondering what the best card for HL2 will be?

Check out: ZDNet Reviews , where they'll update their "best of high-end video cards" comparison.
Might want to wait until HL2 has been out for a few days and check this site before buying the wrong video card. Apparently they'll run them all on HL2 and Doom3 and recommend the best of the bunch.

Note: No one get the Nvidia Geforce fx 5600 in any form. It is great for picture quality, but has sluggish framerates on most games I have gotten this year. Reviews have the same opinion, so steer clear of this one.

I would go for GeForce 6800 Ultra, why?

cause in doom3 it can beat ati by 15-25FPS, whereas ATI can beat nvidia in only source by 5-10fps sometimes.

6800Ultra is faster, and many games are supporting Nvidia than ati.

yep, I just said it, its only 5-10fps,

Alot of games coming next year which support sm3.0....etc and only Nvidia card can give you full support.
