Hi,

I currently have a Sparkle Geforce 4 Ti 4200 128mb video card in my machine and i was wondering wether it would be worth upgrading to a GeCube Radeon 9600XT Extreme 128mb 2.5ns video card. I have heard that both operate at about the same speed, except that the Radeon is slightly faster and has Direct X 9 effects. The reason i ask is because i just upgraded from a Celeron 2.2ghz to a P4 2.66ghz and was also thingking about replacing the video card, if it would really help the performance.

My rig is:

Asus P4S533-x
P4 2.66ghz 533
512mb DDR 333
Windows XP Pro

If anyone has hands on experience with this kind of card then your opinnion ould be greatly appreciated. :)

Thanks,

Razor2yk.

Basicly if you want DX9 and possibly to use some level of AA/AF then go for the 9600pro/XT.
If you don't mind DX8 then don't bother and wait til later to upgrade.

The GeForce 4 TI series of cards were great and the GF4 4200 will perform similar to the 9600 pro for framerate on most games.

I agree with Asus... If you really want a better performance then u should get a 9800 something. BTW the nvidia drivers have a bit better support for games etc. :) I thin.. well at least they used to have...

Yea, unless you're a graphics nut, or someone that has to have the top FPS (frames per second, not first person shooter, figured i should clarify cause it could be taken both ways), you won't really need to upgrade for one or two gaming generations.

Keep your Ti4200, the GF4 Ti was a truly great series. Wait until either nvidia or ATi bring out their new series.
