Video Editing/DVD making app

I have never made a DVD before (a home made DVD, that is), and I would like to make something for the grandparents for the holidays this year. SO, while I'm fairly adept at figuring things out, I don't really want something with a huge learning curve. What app or apps would you recommend for cutting and editing home video and creating a DVD? (not burning, but designing the on screen interface, etc). Thanks!
