I have a Satellite L305-S5946 that uses onboard Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD.

I can play Halflife2 high detail but objects in the distance have a hazy/washed out look and I'm wondering if there is anything I can do about it.

In the screenshot below you'll see Alyx Vance is washed out a bit:

Also the pipes on the ceiling are washed out too.

Is this just the end result of cheap onboard video or can I improve this?

Under: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\dasfox\half-life 2\hl2\cfg I have created autoexec.cfg and placed this in:

cl_detaildist "1200"
cl_detailfade "380"

I didn't notice anything with these settings still the same thing. :(

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

THANKS

Yep, definitely your lack of a video card.

You could try these commands as well, but I doubt they'll help much.

cl_maxrenderable_dist [distance]
lod_TransitionDist [range]

What numbers would I use for those, what sort of range?

for maxrenderable, default is 3000. so use that and go up from there.

not sure about lod_TransitionDist. you're on your own on that one.

r_lod is also a good one i found. your range for variables is -8 to 8. test it out and find out what works.

I know a lot of the tweak settings, the problem is I've tried some already and not getting anywhere.

I'm hoping someone can step forward and tell me what the problem is and what the solution is.

THANKS

I found the fix: mat_dxlevel "81" Can see distance and detail better now...

Look at this screenshot :)
