I don't know if any one has spotted this yet, but if you look closely in Barricade, after the resistance fighter goes down you can see an entry wound in his lower right flank.

And your point to violence? Its a good feature and we already new about it.

Yes, and now bodies stay on the floor the whole game match(in multiplayer) and then you can see where you hit the other guy or where other people hit other people...

I don't want to start flaming but what's the point with this thread really? :) "Violence in Half Life 2" Pretty obvious it will be violence in HL2. :)

There was no point... i just thought it was cool. :/
I took another pic and this one has an entry and an exit wound

I wonder if a characters gibs will be anatomically correct. :O

Gibs were anatomically correct in HL1 in some ways. There was the skull, the splien, the intestines, a leg, some bones, a skull, another skull? OMG TEHER WAS TOO LITTEL PPL IN HIM!!"%^ TWO PPLZ!!"$

They were close.

I noticed this too and thought it was pretty cool. We all knew it existed, but this is the first time we've really seen it.

Well, actually those are pretty neat! Good notice!

In another thread, some guy but nearly the exact same picture.

But he added an idiotic, badly drawn, stupid circle around the wound, to show it.

The gibs in the original were Anatomically correct, but some times you'd get the same gib twice in an explosion. I remember a guy falling and gibbing in CS and commenting that he had two hearts.

That's what I just said!

I bet he then said that he should still be living because he had 2 hearts and that someone was cheating :D

Yeah but you did it in a more subtle way. Probably hard to pick up if you were skim reading.

actually violence is something that will no longer be included in the half-life games... pshh

yea dont forget, to reduce the violence all guns now have rubber bullets and all frag grenades have no more shrapnel.

well im going to try and complete the game by using the Mainpulator to make shields to defend me and not kill anyone at all :)

wilco, do you work for the government by any chance? :)

I'm planning on shooting everything that moves. Kleiner, Alyx and Barney will be on the ground in a pool of their own blood in less than thirty seconds! MWA HA HA HA HA HA. I sure hope they include a minigun, cuz' that would rok!

lol no? what makes u think that?

Im just a student, but soon ill rule the world!

:hmph: Good luck to you. I'm going to try and Manipulate my way through the entire game (after completing it properly first) but bugger not killling ANYONE - especially when you can crush them with a barrel...
The gibs in HL1 always looked very solid, although 'twas great fun seeing people's skulls... Erm... But not in a violent way, purely from a biological perspective.

You have to irritate the enemy into submission. ("What are we s'posed to use? Harsh language!?")

Violence it the staple of video games in the US. If there wasn't violence in video games, a LOT of them would be boring. Imagine GTA:Vice City without being able to run over cops, attack soccer moms with a bat, and decimate women with a chainsaw. Only in America.....

Oh, god no!! Well, Im always getting killed (on purpose) in multiplayer..
*sarcasm*

Well, anyhow, I think the hit decals are awesome, I hate games that show no damage... (MOHAA)

What would be really cool is if some guy fell and hit his face on something and it showed THAT damage. (substitute arm for face for a less disturbing picture)

Heh, has anyone played Half-Life Non-Violent? Gibs were all machinery, and the Scientists and Barneys sat down and shook their heads, when they should have been corpses.

I want the german version, supposedly the humans are robots on it

LOL that's just wrong :p Without violence it wouldn't be realistic at all.

I think the only game I can remember that has hit decals on models was Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, that was a long time ago and people really didn't continue it. Granted it was just splotch's of blood in the location you hit them but it was better then nothing, nice to see games are adding more detail to actually damaging people. I mean we have nearly fully destructible cars, you'd think people would have put that kind of detail into FPS enemies before now.

Makes me think with Goldeneye, that game was AMAZING for it's time. I still haven't seem a game since where you could put bulletholes in guns :p That was so cool.

Didn't SOF2 have hit decals on models? If not, they had the most violent game I've seen. Shoot a man in the stomach with a shotgun and see his intestines spill out. Shoot a man in the head, see chunks of skull and brain missing and on the ground... It was nuts...

Postal 2 wasn't even as gory as SOF2, all they had was "boom your head is gone"

Yeah, SOF 2 had gruesome stuff. I thought it was pretty amazing what you could do to people in that game.

The gibs in HL1 were anatomically correct enough that Hondo (the mapper) managed to make a person out of them.
In a closet.
Behind the player after a teleport.
That opens and plays some freaky music REALLY LOUD.

Jesus Hondo secrets are freaky.
(ahl_endlrain.bsm, by the way :D)

The stuff in SoF II was amazing, but you could never shoot a guy's body in half with a shotgun, or rip a guy's arm off with the pistol.
SoF II pretty much left it to your imagination.

i remember the first time i let loose the usas-12 on some poor schmuck in the game...

I aimed straight at him, pulled the trigger, blam blam blam blam, i was aiming halfway to the ceiling and he was a horrible mess from the waist up.

I love this gun, was my first thought

i got hl1, german version. The robots (replaced the marines of english version) actaully bleed oil. And the best of all: You cant shoot scientists and security men when you dont need them any more (actually i never shot them when i didnt need em, but I heard some people do that;() .
If you shoot those poor fellows, they sit down and put their hands over their faces for cover. Even after you actually empty mag of rockets on them. And no gibs of course. Now THAT was fun.

It was the first time that I bought the same game twice, but just in another language.

btw, there are quite a lot of games featuring hit decals on bodys. rainbow six had that feature, as well as hitman 1 (and even ragdoll, and noone ever seemed to notice that) and others i cant remember.
