Games are not the violent ones. The game can only be as violent as the person that is playing it.
What do you like to see in violent games?
1. Hit decals
2. Blood spray
3. Loss of appendages
4. Have stuff stick in them. Like an arrow
:naughty:
Add some urself :)

I like to see all that stuff, but that doesn't mean Im a violent person. After watching that I don't go out and do it.

somehow I think I would start to see a line drawn at realistic dismemberment

there was an interesting article i read in PC gamer which was about this- i think it said that in order to stop people being influenced by violence, we must make games more violent- therefore scaring people away.

in other words if you was solid snake tkae down 5 guards in a the coolest way possibel, or james bond stealthily eliminate a threat- your going to be pretending to be him all day, thinkin ghow cool it is.

but if you watch some sort of sicko game where you play a character who mutilates his enimies while they scream "please- i have children- i dont want to die!!!" your going to think "****, this is sick... im never going to even think about killing someone"

interesting article ;)

Make it realistic but don't go any further. Don't show blood and gore just because you can in games.

Once emotions become common place in video game characters people will think more than twice about killing people in games.

I mean at the moment enemys in games are faceless emotionless machines out there for one purpose. To impeed or kill the lead character; you!

However if we made every enemy an individual with emotions and showed this in a game where it was employed so realistically.... I would think twice.

If I went up to a enemy on a game and put a gun to their head at the moment the would most likely grunt and struggle a little...

But in future games I would expect them to plead for their life and show fear on their face.

Wouldnt that affect your actions? I know for sure it would affect mine.

I wanna hear my victims scream as I break their bones with my bare hands. I wanna feel the warm blood of the test subject splattering against my forehead. I wanna hear them taking their last breath. I wanna strangle them with their own guts.

Did I just say that out loud? :p

Just kidding

I wont get it unless it has that fat italian dude :borg:

I dunno... but I remember in while playing Turok on the N64, I got a kick out of the arrows sticking into people in multiplayer. :p

I like games with realistic blood splatter and hit decals, I'm not really a fan of dismemberment, however in games with swords and such there should be dismemberment.. No hit decals in Max Payne 2 really ruined a little of the game, with all the other stuff being so well made.

I'm not a violent person, I think it's more about how much your psyche can take. Like with the gross stuff on the net nowadays, just because you can watch Tub-girl and Goa-tse without puking doesn't mean you're into that sort of stuff.

I just want it to be fairly realistic.

I am not really "immune" too all kinds of violence, the line for me goes when it's real life photos/films or overexaggerated stuff like in Bloodrayne 2, cutting people in half (vertically) etc.

yeah, and actually I'm right on with the sword thing. but for guns, I think its just a bit too grotesque, as swords at least cut fairly clean =\

Yeah, in Jedi Knight games it's very well made, it's clean since the light saber just cauterizes the wound instantly and in the original settings you can only cut off hands, arms and feet. (Fiddling with the datafiles and stuff can make you able to cut off heads and stuff, I've done it and it's pretty cool to cut off the head of a really tough foe after a long duel :) )

But I don't want to shoot the head of a guy with a shotgun, especially not in a realistic way, that's just grouse stuff.

yeah, that wouldn't be very fun :|

half-life 3: now with TRAUMA!

MGS2 already has this. When you hold up a guard and point the gun at their head, they start to tremble and beg you for their life, talking about their kids or whatever. Then some of them will be more resistant, refusing to tell you anything. It does a very good job of making you think twice before killing them (with the nice ones I usually just knock em' out or tranq them instead of killing them).
