about 40 mins ago, i was browsing this forum when suddenly my mouse went completely spack - it moved all around the screen as if someone was controlling it.:O it turned my computer straight off by holding the power button.
i am hoping my computer has not been hacked and it is a mouse fault - maybe a delay, as i could not move it, i frantically moved my mouse, and maybe my mouse moved like 5 seconds after i moved it.

can anybody help me? it is the first time it has happenned. my mouse has spacked out before, but not like this. and yes it is optical

A virus wouldn't do something like this, there are much better ways to control your computer than taking control of the mouse. Sometimes the hardware/driver will spaz out, not really anything unusual. Run malwarebytes if you are truly worried.

If you've got a laser mouse you might have a hair or something stuck in the lens, happens to mine sometimes and the pointer goes haywire.

thanks a lot guys I have a feeling it was some dust on the lens.

If your mouse is battery powered, that's usually a sign that it's time to replace the batteries.

My cursor moves on its own sometimes as well. Freaks me out when that happens!

plug in an older mouse and check agian cause i doubt a virus would do something like that

Happens to cheaper laser mouses all the time. Just clean it off. I remember it would happen to me when I was playing CSS a long time back...I was like wtf?

My cursor once moved on it's own and deleted a file without me, Then I went WTF! And that's when I saw my hand bushing the mouse, clicking "Delete," and I went "Oh! You MOFO" and that's when I realized I was drunk so I went to sleep.

The End.

No one jacked mouses since Win98. just clean the mouse and you'll be OK.

Good Luck.

I've had the moving mouse problem. This was, of course, many years ago...can't remember if it was Optical or Balls *lol*. Either way, I'd stop moving the mouse and sometimes it would just keep going in the same direction..A quick move would resolve that.

^ i have the same problem sometimes. It just moves but you aren't holding it and the mouse stands still.
