Yeah, I don't think that's very fair. I can't know which entry people thought was better too. Maybe the mods could do a reset, before too many people vote on it.

Ah, well it's always been done this way, since even before I was a mod. It's done this way so that someone who has 2 good entries, doesn't end up getting their votes split. If 4 people voted for kerberos's first entry, and 4 people voted for his second entry, and then someone else got 5 votes, that guy would win according to your plan. But the way we are doing it, is by what person has the best entry, that way someone doesn't get screwed over just because people have to decide between two of his/her entries. It's been like this for a while though, and we haven't had any issues with it before really, so I think for now we'll just leave it unless everything thinks this rule should be changed. Also, we need ideas for next week's contest, starting tomorrow. Post any/all ideas in this thread.

i agree we need a new contest. maybe we could make the contest bigger, like putting the winning designs on the actual HL2.net website or something? advertise it, instead of making it a small thing that the art forum dwellers participate in.

Sulkdodds was the one who introduced me to this forum, and the whole reason i joined was because i wanted to design a robot for the art contest. The art contest is what made me join HL2.net, and to much of an extent greatly extended the amount of time i spemd talking to people online! and when HL2.net crashed, it introduced me to IRC, as it was the only way i could communicate with the forum. and due to IRC im now in a UT2k4 clan, so therefore i owe HL2.net thanks, and i owe most of those thanks to the art contest.

If I had to choose one, I'd say HL2 people in movies. Then I could paitn a pretty picture of Gordon as a Bogart-esque hard bitten PI. Or I could re-use my old Indy/HL3 poster....

how many art contests have there been that involve cutting people out and sticking them in different scenarios?

i think the funny one would be a refreshing change, because its about comedy and not skill. we could all just have a bloody good mess around with paint

Actually, the majority of the art contests were photo-shopping contests where you had to put one thing into another. It wasn't until we named it the 'art contest' that we started getting away from the cutting and pasting. I'm cool either way, but he majority of people seem to want the hl2 movie idea, so i'll go with that.

to TIM: I have an idea: "HL characters caught red-handed". You know, put those lovable figures in situations they didn't expect us to catch them in: on the toilet, cheating in TFC, etc...

sidenote: I only noticed about the contest just now (shouldn't there be some kind of alert?) I never come to the art forums except for this contest.

It's still up for debate since the contest isn't being posted till tomorrow. The other idea someone had was hl2 characters/monsters in favorite movie scenes. Which would everyone rather do, the movie one, or the 'caught red handed' one?
