W00t! I'm getting high speed internet!

I live in a pretty rural area and up until now our only options for internet was a 56k modem. I just got word that they are installing the equipment to run a high speed internet line (not sure if its cable, DSL or what) right next to my house. I asked the guy and he said it should be available in 1- 1 and a half months. I'm very excited as I love to play games online but hate having to wait hours for games to patch and update, and to think I can actually use Steam the way it was meant to! I don't really know why I'm posting this, I'm just so excited. I've been waiting years to get rid of my crappy 56k connection. W00t!

Lol, be sure to make some room on your hard drive because the day you get it installed, you'll be downloading stuff like crazy.....at least that's how it was for me...

I recently doubled my connection. I don't know exactly how.. My dad payed these people.. And bam.
I am downloading at up to 600kb a sec, and uploading at around 80kbs.

Whats this "plumbing" you speak of? No, to be honest we live in a completely normal small town, no different than one in New York, except its in Louisiana and we don't have fast internet.

Yeah, even if you think "I won't download much" you just don't realize how much more you do when you make the transition from 56k to DSL

Little movies, files, etc. Maybe 5 megs a piece and such that were a hastle to get before that you only did occasionally. You'll get them all right away. It all adds up. You'll download big files and figure it's only a couple.. but you end up downloading a bunch. It's just funny. I got high speed wireless sattelite internet in November of last year and it's been great :]
