After win7 automatically installed a driver for my wireless adapter, it was working.

Windows update offered another driver, so I tried it, and now I'm getting twice the bars. 4 instead of 2. (I only get 2 in XP)

Is it possible that it's bridging connections with my neighbors unsecured network (not sure if that's what it's called "bridging". Merging or whatever?)

How to keep w7 from using neighbors connections at all - like remove them from my list? 2 bars is enough, I don't want use any stray networks.

When you first installed the wireless adapter ( Antenna ) did you use a WEP Key? Did you change it after you installed the updated driver? For whatever reason, your connection speed can be different at any given time for several different reasons. For example, my Wireless router is about 15 feet away across an open space from the antenna on my wife's PC. From time to time, her connection will have 2 or 3 of 4 signal bars filled, while my Wii is connected at full strength on the other side of the house with walls in the way & vice versa.

Now it's of course possible you connected to another wireless source. Simply log off from the PC with the antenna and then manually reconnect your connection. The steps to do this are quite simple, regardless your tech level, though some Router/antenna's have their own software, let alone how W7 is configured, so I can't give you the exact, step by step.
