We all went to battle and lost a great friend and a father figure this week. It's all dark in Half Life Nation and it's community; that Eli has gone.
But, none of us really thinks that; what happened to Eli can be undone.
His last words still echo in my mind when sleep.
We are mourning here on this sad and lonely week at halflife2.net.

Dies? Uh no. How many nutjob theories do I have to come across before knocking the idea into peoples head that SHE DID NOT DIE. Her heart stopped briefly before the Vort's used the extract but that's it. Besides a chest wound isn't so bad she'd have a few punctured organs which is bad, but not bad enough to kill her too quickly. Meanwhile Eli = crushed brain = dead. If Vorts could automagically fix dead people with any manner of missing parts wouldn't they try to raise Ant Lions themselves again, and hence heal all the corpses lying around?

No. As far as I'm aware (and hope to be corrected if wrong) we still have no idea if any being or character in the HL universe can control time.

Heart stopped != Death.

Heart stopped = clinically dead. However, for those that have no medical knowledge at all being clinically dead isn't the end. Surgeons perform heart operations which involve stopping the heart for some time whilst working on it, hence the person being operated on is dead until the surgeons fire the thing back up again.

A stopped heart hasn't been considered death for quite a while now. Yes, it was the condition for death once upon a time. But now we've gotten good at resuscitating people after their heart stops. So the modern definition of death is cessation of brain activity.

Now, a stopped heart leads to brain damage quickly, but that can be prevented for a while with appropriate treatment. People can be revived as much as 10 minutes after their heart stops without suffering any brain damage. So someone being resuscitated a minute after their heart stops, like it was done with Alyx, is completely plausible even in reality, where we don't have Vortigaunts with superb healing powers.
