Wait, I'm confused, which console is the most powerful?

I was watching a show called, "Electric Playground" and they had a show about E3. Anyways, they had some guy from Microsoft and he said that the Xbox 360 would be the most powerful out of all of the three next-generation consoles. Then some guy from Sony said that the Playstation 3 is more powerful than the Xbox 360 (about two or three times, I forgot). Which is it?

On paper, the PS3 is untouchable. Then again, the PS2 was "capable of displaying 75 million polygons per second" at this stage in its development, so YMMV.

The general outline is that the Xbox 360 holds more power in the GPU department, while the PS3 has more in the CPU department. This is all really theoretical at the moment, though, and this margin probably won't make the slightest difference between games.

Its too early to tell. We won't truly be able to tell until sometime later next year when the PS3, XBOX 360, and Revolution are on store shelves. It usually takes a couple generations of console/game development to really tap into and exploit the systems full potential.

It seems like nintendo is the only company who's really being honest here. Both Sony and Microsoft are telling us that their systems will be 40 times more powerful then the last, which i hear everytime anything new in technology comes out( ya, ofcourse the x800 is 3 times the power of a 9800pro, youll only see a 10-20 frames diff but its there....trust me).

I'm going with you on this one. Nintendo does seem to be very honest saying that their system will not be as powerful as Sony or Microsoft. You have to respect them for that.

On the note about Sony and Microsoft, may I remind you that the games (or CG's) you saw at E3 were not even on the hardware of the system. They were run on PC's and Mac's. In turns of power, wait until it comes out because (in a nice way) there is no point talking about the power of each system because Sony and Microsoft can say anything they really want (well...not anything but they can clean up the specs a little).

Xbox 360 is coming out first so I will be anticipating the Xbox 360 the most.

Crap when did he ask us which was the most anticapted system? Anywho, it's anyone's game right now. We won't know until a few years into their life spans.
