Heywo *waves*

Right, something i've hoped from games is firstly, that the character talking to you, looks at you, whilst they appear to do so in the binks, i hope they do if you're not ideally placed to be talked to, eg. walk away, they turn round to look at you.
Oh also, when you're not around, they stop talking to you. (in doom3 u walk near sum1 they talk, then you walk away and they're still going lol)

Second;
In the trainstation bink, you're walking, or travelling the same speed as sum1 walking. I hope that there's points in hl2, and future games where you're treated differently depending on what you're doing, holding etc.
eg. you run thru a trainstation with a gun drawn. everyone runs and hides.
you walk through with no gun, they sit there as normal.
you crouch down in the middle of a room, they all look at you and ask what you're doing.

I'd loooove to see this sorta stuff done in hl2 LOVE IT!

You sekzie monkehs got ne thing to add to thaRt?

yay! first post! I'm awesome!

anyways, I agree with what you said totally, games have gotten to a point where the player expects such things to happen as they would in the real world, I have faith that Valve is doing all that they can to make HL2 meet the expectations of the fans, and new players alike.

Welcome to the forums. :D

As we've seen with the Kleiner E32003 video, characters should react to your actions.

being able to dynamicly interact with a dialouge scene is one of HL2's key features, there was an excellent tiny clip a while back of kleiner and alyx in the lab talking about a cage, kleiner kept talking to alyx, till he noticed the player, then went onto to deliver that part of the dialouge, it felt smooth and cool hehe.

I think one of the guys who visited Valve said that a Combine guy will tell you to pick up a soda can if he sees you knock in off a table, and they'll chase you down and smack you with their batons if you throw stuff at them. It sounds really cool, I wish I could find the thread.

Deus Ex (the first one but not the second... hmm...) did a lot of that already. :)

Looks like Half-Life 2 will be doing it as well, and hopefully more! :D

1. Welcome :)

2. Your avatar is f*cking awesome.

3. Don't be so sure or "faithful" in Valve, they're not to be trusted.

I want their to be sections where walking is turned on for you (like in the trainstation). It annoys me in games when i'm following someone/talking to someone and i move forward about 10 times fast then them. I know i could use a walk key or whatever, but i'm lazy :)

I would like it when a character is talking to you and you start walking away...and they say "uuh..ok forget it then" or "uhh..arent you interested?" and you go back to them and they say "well..as I was saying.."

I know exactly what you mean! maybe it could limit you till you get the suit.

Whats worse is when the walk key is still out of time with the NPC movment so u either lag behind or move ahead.

vavle said i think i nthe first e3 video that if the player is bored and starts to walk away they NPCs will jsut deliver the lines that they need to.

eg:
player is standing there and barney says "hey gordon blah blah bah blah blah blah i like carrots blah blah blah go to Eskimo Station 3 they are waiting for you blah blah"

player is standing still for a second then walks away "hey gordon, go to eskimo station 3 they are waiting for you"

They could maybe implement a system where when you approach an interactable npc, your rate of movement slows down.

Yeah, Deus Ex was really good about that. It added a lot to the atmosphere. Lets hope Half-life 2 does that kind of stuff too!

I wonder if you pulla gun on them, what will happen? I hope the reaction is mixed and surprising sometimes

Some go into the fetal position and start crying, some throw their wallet at you and run into the wall, some call for help, some old lady starts beating you with her cane etc etc

some lady starts beating you with her cane, rotf. We would get that same effect as when you get bitch smacked by a combine.

I highly doubt that anyone in City 17 will have a wallet. :p
