Walmart Collector's Edition for $60!

Since we don't know what's in the CE in the first place, it's difficult to say what's missing. If you trust Wal-Mart not to change the product name to plain old "Half-Life 2" after you pre-order, go right ahead.

Yeah, I work at Wal-Mart and they like to do tricky crap. I get a 10% discount if I buy it there as well, making it $54 for me (Almost the same price as normal game) . Although if I keep a printed receipt, that might be a good way of protecting myself.

Unless this it the Collector's Edition of the Single-Player only version, that would suck. I might just wait on this and not preorder so I can check it out in stores.

I am not so sure I would pre-order half-life, considering we might all be old men by the time it is released.

The other problem you'll find is that that price will probably change. The pricing is still to be confirmed apparently so it's probably just an estimate.

Fizznix, can I ask you to resize your signature to 4 lines or less please? Just like the rule you agreed to when you signed up :)

Nice PC spec but nobody is really bothered about it too much to be honest. No disrespect to you but that's just the way it is :E

On a lighter note, Welcome to the forums!! :D

They're not releasing the single-player only editions any more. Now they're just having the Regular (sp+mp) and Collector's edition

I won't warn you about this again! Can you please stop advertising your forums. Considering you haven't gotten our permission it's incredibly rude.

Edited. I just copied and pasted it from my other message board sigs, didn't see the 4 line limit. I'll read the rules now
;)

If someone was to buy it now and they later changed the price, which price would be charged though? Charging for more than you agreed to is illegal unless they warn you. (I read the product page, no fine print on price changes)

Generally your just putting credit down on a pre-order. So if you paid more on your pre-order than they end up charging you'll get a refund. On the flip-side if they raise the price (let's say back up to 80 like everywhere else) you'll have to pay an additional 20 bucks on top of the money you put down to get the game. Your not actually buying the game with a pre-order. Just putting money down up front so that they'll hold onto a copy for you.

I'll not buy/pre-order/e.t.c the CE, untill I know what's in it!

So far valve hasn't said anything about it's features.

Yeah... that's quite odd don't you think?

Not really. If they're doing anything like miniatures or little stuffed headcrabs or something, they have to deal with another company. They could be waiting on that company to finish production on whatever little extras are going into the box.

True, but I would assume such things would be well under progress. At least to the point that they could give us a clue as to what to expect.

You work there, you should know

Ugh... I don't understand half the things that they do.

Maybe the CE includes a piece of Gabe's hair.

Shmozy's (sorry for the spelling bro) recent tour of Valve. He had a picture taken with Gabe.

Just wanted to note that today walmart upped the price to 79$... like everyone else.

I have recieved no email about a price change, and my account status from walmart still lists the original price. Is that price binding? and do they have to still give it to me?

Just though you guys might like to know, those that hadnt gotten it yet, that they deal wasnt a deal any more.

Found this:

Pricing Information
While WALMART.COM strives to provide accurate product and pricing information, pricing or typographical errors may occur. WALMART.COM cannot confirm the price of an item until after you order. In the event that an item is listed at an incorrect price or with incorrect information due to an error in pricing or product information, WALMART.COM shall have the right, at our sole discretion, to refuse or cancel any orders placed for that item. In the event that an item is mispriced, WALMART.COM may, at our discretion, either contact you for instructions or cancel your order and notify you of such cancellation.

We strive to provide you with the lowest prices possible on WALMART.COM as well as in our stores. However, sometimes a price online does not match the price in a store. In our effort to be the lowest price provider in your particular geographic region, store pricing will sometimes differ from online prices. Prices and availability are subject to change without notice.

So apprently they can just cancel the orders, or for a price change on us... now to see if it happens. Im sure they will see a bunch of pissed off people if they do that.

In New Zealand it'd be illegal. If you quote a price, you have to honour it within acceptable reason - you can't get a quote from some place and go back 1 year later and demand that price.

Unless you make it clear at the time of the quotation that the price may change (as walmart.com does).

Not sure if this is correct, but this is an email from a work colleague of mine forwarded to me. This is the Australian one anyways... cant be sure of anything else.

Uh... the price changed. It's now $80, like everywhere else. Guess that's the end of this little debate :)

`thing i love abotu my preorder is that even though i paid $68 canadian for it before they mentioned the different packages, Eb games told me i would get the top end edition for no extra cost

Well atleast at GameCrazy (the gamestore at HollyWood Video, where I work), it's priced at $59.99.

Of course, it's subject to change, but there's atleast one place that has it at that price.

We also have the new tribes for $30!

Stuffed Head Crab. I'd love that.

edit: Woah. Didn't see the second page before I posted that. Sorry. :)

:) Umm retailers by products from distributors real cheap. Like a PS2 game about $50 bucks on new release, Gamestop buys a whole shipment for like $30 each and sells it for $50, while the game developers probably wasted like $15 bucks for each copy, it's all profits man.

why does walmart suck? it's the only thing that's worth it here.. excpet for clothes

it will jsut be a special box and a dvd with some making of stuff or something like Halo 2

well my bill still hasnt changed... and its been changed for some time now. So either walmart is very slow on updating their online orders, or they arent going to charge those who ordered it at 59$ more...

Half-Life 2 defines a new benchmark in gaming with startling realism and responsiveness. The intense, real-time gameplay of Half-Life 2 is powered by Source, Valve's new proprietary engine technology, which provides major enhancements in character animation, artificial intelligence, graphics, and more.

In addition to a limited edition DVD-ROM version of Half-Life 2, this Collector's Edition also includes:
Counter-Strike: Source - The next generation of the #1 online action game

Half-Life: Source - Digitally remastered version of the original acclaimed PC game

Free Limited Edition T-shirt - Offered in men's size XL only

Half-Life 2 Prima Book - Information on character backgrounds, the making of the game, and more than 100 pieces of artwork

Not the exact same, but basically :) Could still even be correct for the australian release.
