The mammoth retailer is gearing up publicity just before Memorial Day for its Veterans Welcome Home Commitment, an initiative to hire more than 100,000 veterans over the next five years.

That is roughly double the number of veterans who currently work for Walmart, which employs about 2.2 million associates worldwide — 1.4 million of them in the United States. The corporation also promises to offer a job to any honorably discharged veteran within his or her first 12 months off active duty.

Of the company's nearly 11,000 stores across the globe, more than 4,000 of them are located in the United States, where the majority of retired military members will be returning to find work.

Thats pretty cool. Also, I had no idea there were so many Walmarts outside of the US. Jesus.

Didn't know so many vets were looking to work a walmart shift

A lot of Vets often have a hard time finding any kind of job.

Correct. Tons are mentally ill and homeless or have serious physical afflictions without any help or money for hospital bills too. The U.S. and many other nations give zero ****s when their veterans return.

Would rather work at Walmart than at a McDonald's flipping food for fat ****s. Woo unintended alliteration.

They've bought pre-existing supermarket chains in other countries, often not replacing the 'brand' as Walmart.
