Wanted: Outlaws and Lawmen

Any suggestions? There should be a large update soon with more weapon models, maybe even a player model :P.

I like the concept art, has a nice feel to it. The game modes feel like you are trying to force CS into a different setting. If I were doing the mod I would work out one really innovative gameplay type and make it work, the rest be damned. Just a crazy idea, but why not put it all together. Why have these separate gametypes ? Why not put several of them together ?

Hmm what if it worked this way, the map itself is setup as an outlaw town, a normal town and the surrounding area, there are several spawn points to select for each side the spawn points show the players near them so you can spawn into ones with friendly units nearby and no enemy units. The general objective is for the Lawmen to keep the law and punish those who break it, and the outlaws have to break the law.

In addition to this general mandate each side has an objective. For the outlaws it may be to knock over the bank, and for the lawmen it would be to hang a prisoner in the square. Each side could discover information about the others objective by killing the other sides men, gaining clues as to what the other side is planning. If you wanted you could make these objectives linked to message riders who appear at random intervals allowing either side to grab extra objectives by controlling the message riders.

It may not work, but what if you couldn't recognize players from NPC's unless they'd done some damage to your faction in some way ? Perhaps if you keep your reticule on them for a while something will indicate that they are on the opposite side. You could have it setup so that each player has a target on the other team, killing them nets extra points and recognizing them is easier.

Anyway what you have could work, it just feels like more of the same with a new setting.

Like you said, combinding several gametypes. What will make this more than CS in a different setting is that it will not be ONE objective. The game will start, the outlaws will be told to rob a bank. If they do it, they get points, if they are stopped, the lawmen get points. After thirty seconds they get another objective, they need to do it ect. The lawmen have their own mini objectives, but the game focuses on Lawmen stopping outlaws. Points are awarded for kills, but mainly its the multiple objectives that make it different and better.
As for not being able to tell who is who, I thought about that and I am not sure if it will really work for gameplay sake. Many outlaws in the west were cocky, and they wanted to be seen and known. MAYBE, if you have the recticle over an outlaw it says right away the name and team. If the gun is away, however, it doesn't say anything. You could still tell by the player model though, so I am not sure.

Well you could always have it scale as the player becomes more infamous the shorter the time to identify them. Infamy could be tied to a number of variables, kills or points. On objectives I'd like to see something that forces the teams to play both offensive and defensive hence why I suggested having both sides have objectives. Kind of a side note wheres the cattle rustling!?!?! Maybe it'd be too hard to manage server side, but the idea of stampeding cattle to your corral appeals to me. Or stampeding them into town to aid in your bank robbery. Ah well Perhaps I'll put my own ideas together one day, but I do look forward to trying your take on things.

It was suggested before, but the lag would be unbearable. There IS the "Wanted System" which is infamy, I never thought of tying it to the recticle idea, that sounds good. The mod began with objectives for both sides, but the more it was researched the more it was noted that Lawmen had nothing to do other than STOP Outlaws. On the site we have Lawmen missions, finding clues, posting wanted posters, things of that nature. These are there to make it more than just generic missions.
