Hello and welcome to War Stories Volume Two (bet you don't even remember the first, where you can post your mad and hilarious tales of death and destruction. By the way, I do mean in games. Though if you've really gone on a gun rampage, post that too!
Here's two of mine:
BF1942. Desert COmbat. Kursk. Me and a friend were strafing about in apaches, covering a tank column. We're dominating, blowing up tanks left, right, and center, whem suddenly, something catches my eye...
"Flak! On the hill!" I scream, but it's too late. My friend gets hit and spirals down, in flames, to the ground, only just managing to escape the stricken vehicle. He parachutes down, a scout, right in front of his crashed chopper and behind enemy lines.
"Hold on!" I say. "I'm coming."
So he's surrounded by tanks and infantry, trying to holld them off with his sniper rifle. He shoots one, two, one in the head, two more, reload. Another two enemies go down. The fisrt tank arrives and he manages, miraculously, to grenade it. Now he's on low health, sniping for his life. Another tank rolls in and this time he's out of grenades. It's the end.
Suddenly the tank blowss up and he looks to the skies to see me in my apache do a perfect combat landing, firing missiles as I descend, right in front of him. He jumps in and we take off under heavy fire, him manning the cannon and me dodging missiles. We make it back to base and survive the ordeal. Then, because it's BF1942, we get healed up and go straight back out in a tank...
Number 2:
Some of you may have heard this already. Me and the same friend - plus another - are pinned down atop a stategic hill in Gazala. We're completely surrounded. Frantic, we call for backup. We expected air suport, artillery maybe, but not the sight of a blackhawk spiralling across the sky towards us in a lazy spin. And then it lands perfectly behind us. We pile in without a second thought...but then we see who is in the pilot's seat...
"Hello!" says Solid Snail.
The chopper lifts off and goes into a flat spin, clipping a mountain and finally coming to a rest on a cliffside...perfect landing. Bemused, we waste no time in escaping the flying coffin. We bid goodbye to Solid Snail, who promptly lifts off, flips over, and accelerates...right over the cliff and dissappearing completely.
To this day I'm not sure whether he got out of that one....
So post your own! And as a special treat, here's the man himself...Solid Snail!
