Why not post your war stories here for all to see? They can be funny or serious. For example...one of my friends can land the choppers very well in Desert Combat, but cant fly for shit. Requesting evac I was startled to see a blackhawk arc across the sky in a black hawk down-esqe death plummet. suddenly it veers towards me and executes a perfect landing under fire. I hop in, only for the errant vechile, driven by my pal, lifted off, rolled over and span under a bridge, before narrowly missing a small village and coming to rest on top of a building. Without even a scratch.

So, post your chronicles of madcap bravado and the horrors of war-multi or single player. I'm waiting to hear from you all.

heheh ive had many adventures with the ac-130.
one time me an some guys were flyin up really high, we were almost dead, the alarm was ringin. i was hanging out by the door, which was closed, and there was another guy near the front of the plane an he was hangin out too. we had 3 people includin the pilot, manning the vehicle. suddenly we are hit but aa fire or a rocket or somethin, cause we suddenly blow up, but somehow me an the guy who werent manning anythin are still alive. so were plummeting to earth in the carcass of the ac 130, i activate my parachute an foat back up to the back of the plane, while he doesnt. so we hit the ground at full force, he goes flyin towards the front an dies while i float downwards. the carcass eventually settles an i find that i am near an enemy outpost. i immediatly hear rocket fire from a helicopter so i jus hang out in the carcass for a bit. but i guess the plane wanted me to die cause it started to fade away (as they do a while after they are destroyed) and i think to myself "oh great" when the plane fades completly, i drop to the ground, no longer havin the protection of the plane an run towards the outpost, but then the heli killed me. It was fun while it lasted.

well, there was this game of Desert combat....35, just out, the iraqis hadn't figured out how to use the stinger yet, so Lostvill was a feast for any Blackhawk gunner...like me. So we were circling over the city, once or twice a rpg came close, but out of that, it was just nice. Some guys at mainbase wanted a transport, so we flow over and picked them up, flow over the city...and hell broke lose. Mg fire everywhere, Stingers fliing at us...everybody wanted our heads (6 kills with one shot, now thats a ratio...). So my pilot did one of the best combat landings i have ever seen. We were falling out of the sky, landed on the market place, the guys were out in no time and we were back in the air (needless to say that I was fireing all the time, geting some 4-5 Frags). then we flew back and completed the tour three times, before the heli got uncontrollable during a landing. Oh well. Gave a mighty uproar over the chat.

And then there was this Game of americas Army...bridge, 4 minutes to go, we were waiting, no shoot was fired (we were defense), everyone was waiting and was geting more nervous with every second. Suddenly over the chat "[opfor]xxxxxx: THIS ISN'T CS!!!!!!!!" seconds later they rushed our positions, and were defeated soundly. we were howling with laughter.

LOL for a second I thought these were real war stories ROFL, and I was like, what the heck?!? "Desert comat?" and then I went..."ohhhhh!"

Anyway
In a game of Opflashpoint battlefield 1985 (map) I was at the factory site, and I had one AA missle, all of the sudden, a Mi-24 comes out of nowhere, the gunner drops out in a paracute, and the pilot uses manual fire to blow up the tanks and the APC up in the area, just as I was about to hit it woth my AA missle, some other guy, from a lower part of the building, shoots his AA missle off, and misses the chopper, the pilot said something to the extent of "haw-haw" and started blasting my building with a 30 mm cannon. On instinct, I launched off the missle, hit the Mi-24, and blew it up. At that moment, everyone on the map accused the other dude with the AA of being a hacker (since you can only carry 1 AA missle) and decided to boot him, but then I protested, and said that it was I who fired the missle, but no one believed me, and also accused me of being a hacker, this made me angry, so I got in an M1A1 and began going around Tking until someone decided to kick me off

Too many to mention in Battlefield. Me and a mate wiped out a whole town with one Black Hawk once on a LAN game :D

Mine is a real tragedy. I just got Desert combat and i tried to install it. But then, it asks for disk 2. Of course, i couldn't provide it. I assumed that it must be a corrupt download, so i get it again from the same place. Still faulty. This time i try somewhere else, again it doesn't work. So i go somewhere else, yet still it doesn't work. I just finished downloading it again, but it says my disk space has run out, so Ive got to do it again. I'm sure it would have worked because the file size showed up as the correct size. Anyway, i had another one downloading at the same time, just in case, thats nearly done. Hopefully it will work.

EDIT: No, its failed again. Hmmm. Anyone offer any help?

Ok, so to top this post being complete spam, heres a nice story or two.

I was playing on BF1942 on Omaha beach. I was Axis our team was about 2 thirds the size of the other team, but we were still very holding out. Anyway, you know on the allies' right side of the map, with the main ramp going into the axis base? Well they had 6 bazooka men on there, as well as 2 snipers. They were managing to keep up a barrage at least equal to that of the Russian missile truck (don't know the name) No matter how hard we tried, not one of us could make it down. So at first, we just entrenched ourselves in hard to hit positions and just started to mow them down as they came past the trees. But our naval gun got blown up and the allied ship started to blast our positions, they almost broke through, until we came up with another idea. Most of us would act as fodder and keep the allies occupied. Then the few left over would sneak down the other side. We jumped over the fencing by use of det packs, offered by an engineer, then we parachuted down. We decided to by pass the middle flag, as that would give us away. So we went down onto the beach and ran to the flag down there. A couple of guys ran over to the ship and started causing havoc. The rest of us climbed inside the destroyed boats. Before they realised what was going on, we had almost evened the score. Although, once they did realise we had a lot of guys swarming all over us. One of the guys on the ship got killed, but the other one managed to hide. He was a sniper so he started taking out some guys. Two of us on the beach died, and it ended up with me and another guy hiding inside a landing craft on the beach, an another person inside a tank. The tank soon got blown up though. We decided we would stay low, and not shoot anyone for a moment, to make them think everyone was gone. But because the sniper was still shooting, they carried on looking around. Once they made out position there were bullets pinging around everywhere. At first we just shot at them normally, but then we were down to our last clips we had to make every shot count. Me and the other guy must have taken out at least 30 guys between us. It ended up that we had to run out with our knives and try to get them, but we got mowed down pretty fast. However, the sniper managed to stay alive to his last bullet as well. He was a good sniper to and took out a guy with almost all of his shots.

Playing Galzala (SP?) In DC,

I was on the allies team, the scortching heat of the sun burning my skin, I was running matnence on some choppers. The sand was starting to pick up and we could tell a sandstorm was coming, I kept working on the chopper, It had been quite quiet for some time, we were wondering if there would be an airstrike.

I then went inside of the hanger to wash my hands, I then started to hear choppers taking off, we weren't supposed to begin our airstirke run until later that day. I went to look out the window when I saw a platoon of enemy helecopters coming towards the base, they fired a single missile and hit one of the choppers.

I radieoed "Enemy Choppers Spotted!" over the line, helicopters started taking off for a counter attack, anti tanks even fired at the choppers. We managed to take down one of the three helecopters and the other two did great damage, we lost almost all vehicles before they retreated.

We also lost a fair amount of soldiers, medics were healing the injured, we requested backup from other squadrons and radieoed for new choppers, they arrived within a half hour. we prepaired our strike, "Any soldiers avaliable to strike report at the airfeild!" was streamed out to all soldiers, then we started.

I had to stay back at base for repairs on damaged vehicles from the strike, but I listened over the comm line:

"Squadron 1 moving out to attack"
"Roger that Squadron 1"
"Squadron 1 to base, we are approching target"
"Roger that Squadron 1, fire when in range"
"Squadron 1 to base we have begun bombing"
*sounds of explosions*
"Squadron 1 report status!"
"Chopper down, pilot bailed!"
"Im moving in for pickup"
"Roger That"
"Squadron 1 to base, we have eliminated all vehicles, returning back!"
"Roger that squadron 1"

Lol, Im really bored.

Wow, what a turnout. I didn't expect so mush so quickly. So, Desert combat seems to be the favourite, which is not surprising. But just wait till everybody gets planetside.
I remember when we first saw the ac-130 at our local lan cafe. We spent a whole afternoon practising tactical deployment via HALO jump. The there was the time in Tribes 2 when, trying to get our flag back, I was forced to chase a low-flying dropship through the valleys on my speeder bike, keeping track of it until my team could muster some air support. Seeing that dropship finally taken out by a threesome of shrikes was pure joy.
Keep em coming, and lol to that guy thinking it was real. :)

PS-I must seem like a noob, but how do I get a little picture under my name? Jesus, how embarrasing.

I beta tested planetside, didn't like it that much, probably because they took away my flight privalages when I killed my teammates with my galaxy, :D

Hahaha. Thats the funniest thing Ive heard all day. I tried to beta test it but never got the chance. It looks like a really good game. I would get it but i cant afford such things as monthly subscription fees.

Go to user cp and go to edit avatar, or edit profile. You should be able to do the rest. If not, just PM me.

So I am playing the new secret weapons demo.

I spawned as an axis sniper in a village near Hellendoorn and made my way up hill. The allies have already taken it over and it was swarming with allied assaults and anti-tank people. I made my way up behind a tank and took the back entrance to the church. Before I got there I looked back and saw that the tank that I used as cover took one tank shell and two or three anti-tank rockets. I made my way up into the bell tower. It turns out people like camping that white house that contains the rocket packs. They were all out on the balcony. I went prone and took my shots. I took out the anti-tank infantry with headshots. Then spotting a Sherman tank down in the intersection. I threw my grenades down there and destroyed the tank and a few people. I reloaded my rifle and got out of the bell tower. I stopped mid way down to peak out the window and took out an anti-tank that got on the top balcony.

Soon I was all the way down and going out the back entrance and low and behold, an allied sniper taking shots at my friends in the respawn point below. I crouched and took a shot at him, missed. I stayed crouch and didn't do anything just steadied my aim. I took another shot at his head and got him. I made my way to an ammo box partly surrounded by sandbags that was way in back and reloaded my weapon.

I laid there taking shots at people manning the guns on the tanks and people in jeeps and motorcycles killing most of them before they could get a shot off.

My team took the village back and carried on to victory.

Planet side sounds like a large version of Tribes 2 with a monthly fee.

Thats all planetside is but its a good game when u get in to it! i just didnt like the 1.5 gig download :) and the wait on fileplanet!

Apparently It's great. Thanks, Mitoboy.

I remember when....
On cs, militia, I had bought an AWP (I know, but I was young and dumb back then) to counter the horde of rushing ct's. Having done my bit from the rooftops, the house was invaded, and with great apprehension I tried to repell them. I ended up killing everybody from close range shots indoors. Fun.

Please, could somebody give me a planetside story? :)

I could but i would have to make it up. Im really interested by planetside actually. These MMOG's look so great but i just dont have the money. Perhaps when i have a better job than Morrison's.

I plan to sign up for PlanetSide when I have broadband.... and a good job :)

heres my War Story... from Desert Conflict II:

Me and my team of the 22nd SAS were slicing through the Iraqi forces in one of the earlier missions until we came to a Flak tank behind some barbed wire, meaning we couldn't use the usual tactic of stealth backed up with C4. I remembered that my character (well, the one i was currently possesing) had a Laser Designator, meaning I could knock out this tank from the sky, so with this in mind I ran towards the Flak tank, stupidly thinking it could only fire at the sky. I nearly soiled myself when the Quad-linked guns swivelled down and opened up on me :p. I dived behind a wrecked car, and pulled out my laser designator, thinking that it would be a quick flick of a mouse. I held down the targetting thingy and waited.... and waited.... All the while the Flak bouncing off the car body. It came up ready and I flicked 'Use' and heard the helicopters flyover, trashing the tank with missile fire :).... I looked at my health bar.... not a scratch :p

I woke up to the sound of mortars blasting and non stop gunfire. I ran out side to see what it was. It was an Iraqi charge! *bum bum bum*

I ran to the nearest Blackhawk chopper and hopped in. 3 seconds later it was filled by other crewmen. We took off towards the Iraqi base. We saw a enemy chopper and opened fire immidiatly. I turned my chopper sideways and the gunner finished the enemy. We flew over the base and opened fire on the enemy airfield, killing one enemy and blowing up 2 planes. I hovered above the ground at the base and everyone jumped off. I was about to take off when I got hit by a enemy tank shell.

The end.

Heh.
Still noobish...whtaever image I use, I can't because It's bigger than 50 by 50 pixels. Help?
Soon I shall have broadband and planetside shall be mine. I just love flying people around in choppers/dropships and in planetside I shall be a sniper who...flies around in dropships.
Oh and zeus, I'm assuming that you did this on desert combat but as you don't mention a game, it may be real.
Any vietnam veterans out there post here with your true stories!

I can't really help you there. Try using a program such as Microsoft Picture It! or PS.

Anyway, another story. It was a turning point in my CS skills.

A 56ker never caused so much havoc in so little time.

Game: Half-Life: Counter-Strike
Map: de_dust
Side: Terrorist
Players: 30, 15 on each side

I spawned after getting mowed down for the tenth time. My skill was not that good, but I could hold my own with a bunch of normal players. Taking people out here and there, nothing much.

I bought an AK-47 but due to a limit in cash I only had enough to buy one clip. I rushed the bridge with two other people. The rest all went the tunnel. One guy stayed behind and covered me with a scout (AWM's were off-limits, I suck with them anyways.) while the other guy came with me.

I am extremely deadly with the AK when it comes to headshots. I can pump your head with two rounds from across the map if given a little time. I took out two guys that had M4's in the sniper nest over looking the bridge. Unfortunately they got my bud. Another CT popped out and the guy coving me back at the entrance got him. I went up the ramp slowly looking over my shoulder and everything. I did a break for it. I ran and ran across the open, no one was there. I turned the tunnel by the B site door and what I saw made me jump. FIVE CT's armed with M4's and AK's all crouched in a bunch with their back to me.

(I never buy grenades; I always die before using them.)

So I took aim at one of their heads in the back and open up full auto. Four headshots and another body pumped with a large amount of bullets.

I was now on my last clip, not even full, only about 15 shots left.

The rest of the team rushed in and killed the remaining CT's in the area.

I ran into the B site and saw one of my guys get killed by a guy with an MP5. I saw him run around a box and heard him reloading. I ran around and caught him, then pumped a couple rounds into his face.

Terrorists win.

I continued to completely own everyone. Any CT that tried to stop me in the tunnel was greeted face to face with fast moving metal.

now thats cool:

short story for a little laugh:

DC, Map is Berlin, Archi's iraqi, running through the streets, sundenly sees an american lying in front of him, with his back in his direction, so he doesn't see him...Archi thinks 'letz pwn him!' gets out the knive, sneacks closer, tries to hit him, guy turns around, Archi dies. Darn.

Heh.

Right...Cs. Poolday. Everybody takes the decent weapons and I'm landed with a mac-10. So I run clockwise round the entire arena constantly (literally) spraying bullets and kill EVERY ENEMY with headshots. One clip, one circuit round the pool, 5 kills. Mad.

Oh, and on Berlin in BF1942, the time I held the central crossroads single-handedly against legions of bots as a sniper till my freinds could arrive in a tank. That was the longest minute of my life.
