Any of you bitches play Warhammer Fantasy (i.e. the table-top miniatures game)? It's pretty damn awesome.

If I had the money (they are rather expensive :() and time, I would love to get going in this.

It's a good creative hobby. My brother used to be into it alot about 5-8 years back and I enjoyed seeing his collection grow. Not a fan of playing the game, more of the models/painting/collecting side.

I used to play 40k, but I got sick of the geeks. And I got sick of being bugged about painting my models.

I collect/play Fantasy. I've got the startings of a Fimir army, plan to buy some Kislev, and have an ungodly number of High Elves.

40k here also. And you sound like my cousin. He pretty much asked me if I ever played fantasy in the same way you just asked (with the swearing and such).

I had a few hundred dollars of chaos dwarves and they got discontinued.

I had a few 40k bits when I was younger. Probably still stored in the garage somewhere. Best moment was when my mate convinced me to make a battle scene with a load of red paint and glue. Brilliant. Ruined a fair bit worth of the things.

Ah good times...

The only Warhammer I've played is...

Dark Crusade and Dawn of War for PC. :>

Dark Crusade is friggin' awesome! Lol. We should get together and play a game sometime.

I was considering starting up a Necron 40k army, a friend of mine bought a starter kit and never opened them. Now he's selling the whole lot and the Necron codex for AU$20... so I thought that was pretty good. :p

Played a bit of Warhammer with some friends, never really had a favourate race for the original, although i do enjoy a big chaos/dark elf set up.

40k, I`m near enough the same, the Imperium is, and always will be awsome. Space marines Ftfw. But the same could be said about Chaos, Chaos are just badass mother****ers.

I prefer Tyranids myself, the great devourer shall never be stopped!

I mean cmon...They slaughtered the ultramarines at the poles when the first hive attacked...

40k for me, too. I have a pretty large Imperial Guard Cadian army which is slowly undergoing a movement into a more British Army feel (I've made a 40k size Challenger II, aa Warrior fighting vehicle and other APC's/armoured vehicles, etc) because it makes them look pretty cool. I did have a really big Chaos army (Iron Warriors) but I've slowly picked apart their tanks and converted them to Imperial Guard stuff.

I've gone through quite a few armies now. I started on Dark Angels, then went Imperial Guard, stopped with them and went to Tyranids when they were re-released, then Tau, and now back to Imperial Guard after the re-release of them in their new AWESOME plastic form (Converting wins so much)

I still keep my Tau stuff, so most of the dropships are now Pelican-esqe dropships used for my Imperial Guard. I barely play anymore. Not at all actually, but I use to play loads and I visited the main HQ loads of times. They use to have some awesome battle tables, for playing and for show. Huuuuuge big scale battle dioramas. Was awesome.

D : I used to collect Tau , <3 Tau . I play with my brother sometimes.

I used to collect 40k. I didn't play, I just liked putting the models together and painting them. I don't really have the time anymore though. I would have played if everyone in the Games Workshop stores wasn't so wierd/intimidating.

I know what you mean. My friend used to play there all the time so I went with him a couple times. I only played once there though, because I got my ass handed to me and they made fun of my models !!! ;(

After that I only played with my brothers and friend who played. And it was only at my house on my own battlefield.

40k is alot better than Fantasy. I started collecting Dark Eldar; because I thought the universe was rather ****ing cool, but my patience whilst painting them pretty much dried out, as did my money.

So I stopped.

You guys are being serious?.........

To each their own :p, just have fun with it!

Nout wrong with Warhammer. It's like any other hobby, like drawing or reading or whatnot. Something to do and it's a chance to be creative with modelling, colouring and collecting. I'd get back into it properly if I had the money.

I like the stores. The guys inside can seem a little 'weird' but every store I've been in they have always been really upbeat and friendly guys who just love their gaming, and usually have a good taste in music, films and books and stuff, so I always enjoyed talking to them. I never played in-store, but like I said, I played a few games at the Warhammer World HQ on the AWESOME tables they had there. It's not the same there as playing in-store as theres loads of tables so theres less chance of getting LOADS of spectators, some of which are the kind that will titter at your models, tactics or paint skills.

I use to always play the city boards. Urban combat is awesome.

I was collecting Skaven (Their style suits me most, even if you have to paint an unholy amount of models) but I have no one to play agaist and it was quite an expensive habit.

I used to play 40k but I just couldn't be bothered to start again.

Are you uh... supposed to glue the parts together? Anyway, that's awesome.

Skaven are by far the most awesome. Could there possible be anything better than charging a regiment of 2 point each slaves into some knights and then shooting your rattle guns and warp lighting cannon into it?

Yup, Warhammer ftw. I collect Empire, my brother pretty much every side including 40k which i dont.

Yup. It's like airfix, but with weapons. You glue, and paint them.

Damn straight. If you read enough of the Warhammer mythos, you can even see references to Heroquest. One of the Lords of the End Times was called Morcar in a recent "Hordes of Chaos" - the name of the main antagonist in the anywhere-that-isn't-the-US version of Heroquest.

This thread may or may not be an excuse to whore my painting.

Those models do look really well painted. I didn't have the patience to go for that much detail.

Yeah, original Heroquest was cool and all, but I loved the expansions. Particularly, the Rise of the Witchking. That was an awesome game, with the minor exception that I always played the barbarian, and thus started out completely helpless and chained to the floor in a room full of skeletons and a monster in my face! Good times.

On a side note, Morcar is the most annoying villain. Ever.

Bah, the Witch King is an alias of Nagash!

I typically was always the Elf. Man, that was some time ago. Chaos Warriors were so damn difficult to kill.

Quick, use the Genie to kill that Fimir!

I really didn't have the patience or time in general to paint my models to that standard of detail. I have quite a number painted, but I have alot that are still just grey or sprayed black. I'd like to get around to painting my Cadians, but I can't get the right colour scheme. Baring in mind I'm limited to about 10 colours now as all the rest I had are all dried up.

I'm a 40K man at heart, Dark Angels are my primary army [because they're the coolest space marines ever], but I have Chaos Marines [Fallen DAs, complete with early/mid 90s DA transfers], Ork Speed Freaks, Death World Veteran IG, 13th Great Company Space Wolves, Tau and a Fantasy Dwarf army (though I could do with one with more flexibility).

Sadly I havent played in quite a while, though I keep up to date with the news through White Dwarf. I really should get back into it... *wallet quivers in fear*

I gave it up a while ago, expensive hobby, and I dunno, I just didn't have the time anymore, and it kinda lost it's appeal :(

I have a Guard army, but I lost interest (or more, I lost the amount of interest necessary for me to shell out so much money). Last game I played was at Games Day LA. Guard defending against Tau. We pwned those subhuman alien scum. I still follow the game though. I watched Medusa V and was pleased that for once the Imperium achieved a genuine victory.

Used to do warhammer back in the 90's when i was a kid!

40k
Gorka morka and necromunda!

I've always been better at the art side than the gaming side - I get regularly tonked in battle.

I've been a GW fanboy for all my life, though. First Games Workshop games that we had in the house was Heroquest, in '89, and Space Crusade, in the '90s. That pretty much hooked me on the settings, and I really like the way I can look at backstory and say "Hah, I was there when that happened!"

Legendary.

My older brothers were into it and i still had a load of 80's minatures, and a few ancient "white dwarfs" (the magazine for the hobby)
It's funny how much cheaper they were back then, lead figures were about £1.25 for 5 or something, when i left the hobby in about 1999 some figures were about £5-£8 each (characters like marnius colgar)

The price was the thing that put me off if i remember correctly, moved on to gaming with tamiya 1/35 and airfix 1/72 military models, didn't feel quite the same as using what was designed for wargames however.
